Over the past few years, The CW has become the home for DC Comics superheroes on television. There are some more shows on other networks, but they don't exist in the same volume or interconnectedness as what you can find on The CW. In the Arrowverse, as it's called, the network's flagship series Arrow is already on its fifth season, while spinoff The Flash is finishing up with season 3, and Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl are currently on their second. There is even a Black Lightning pilot in the works that could end up being added to the upcoming fall schedule, making The CW lineup now more than halfway comprised of shows from executive producer Greg Berlanti.
For all intents and purposes, though, Supergirl is very much the new kid on the block. After moving from CBS to The CW this season, the drama starring Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El got a bit of an overhaul. While season 1 was pretty straightforward with Kara simply learning to use her powers for good and revealing her identity to her friends, the second season has added a lot more depth and characters into an intricately plotted storyline.
Of course, some fans have wished the show could go back to its roots, but that's beginning to seem less and less likely, especially with General Zod coming in the finale. So after a month-long hiatus, it may be difficult to remember exactly where season 2 left off. No worries though because The CW has released a spring recap video that is sure to get everyone back up to speed before Monday's return.
When we last left Supergirl, Kara had almost been killed by kryptonite while stopping her Daxamite boyfriend Mon-El (Chris Wood) from being taken away by his parents. His mother, Queen Rhea (Teri Hatcher), then killed her husband, King Lar-Gand (Kevin Sorbo), for letting their son escape and then vowed vengeance on Earth. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Kara's father, Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain), reappeared after a 10-year absence, only so he could steal the National Alien Registry for Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong) in a bid to keep his daughters safe.
Going into the last five episodes of season 2, it seems Queen Rhea and her plans for Earth are going to be at the forefront. There is also a big surprise in store for Alex and her girlfriend Maggie (Floriana Lima). We can even expect Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) to return for the last two episodes of the season, and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) is also returning for the season finale. We may even see Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) learn about Kara's secret and move over to the dark side. As season 2 of Supergirl winds down, anything could happen.
