A new promo is released for Supergirl season 3's upcoming episode, "Schott Through the Heart," featuring the debut of guest star, Laurie Metcalf as Winn's (Jeremy Jordan) mother.

It's only a few weeks before Supergirl returns on air with brand new episodes. The Girl of Steel and her show had to give enough time to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow to air their remaining episodes while Supergirl took an unusual nine-week break mid-season. The change stems from the debut of The CW's newest superhero show, Black Lightning, taking over Legends’ original Tuesday night slot after The Flash. Understandably, many fans were unhappy about the decision, but it still pushed through, and now, it's almost over.

Clocking in at just 20 seconds, the spot centers on Winslow Schott, Sr.'s (Henry Czerny) funeral, where Kara and her group are surprised after the villain's coffin suddenly explodes. By then, it's clear that despite his death, Toyman still has a few tricks left up his sleeve, causing Team Supergirl to become more vigilant given that whatever Winn's father planned can blow up in their faces any second. True enough, something horrible goes wrong, after several bombs tucked into flying monkey toys were discovered. However, it's eventually revealed that Winn's mother was the one behind the deadly pranks. Just before the teaser ended, Kara is seen trapped in what looked like a glass capsule, almost like she's a packaged Barbie doll, while the Schott matriarch creepily says "that's a dangerous toy." Check out the clip above.

Supergirl Lives Kara Winn Schott

It's unknown what Mrs. Schott's endgame is, but she definitely has the same tendencies as her departed husband. Fortunately, Winn didn't inherit any of his parents' penchants and is actually doing the opposite. No wonder their family dynamic is a bit of a mess. Following Toyman's escape from prison, he rushes to convince his son to join his team - which Winn obviously declines. It's difficult to gauge what his mother is trying to accomplish here, but it looks like she's pretty hell-bent on tormenting Kara. It's a wonder how Winn will factor in the episode knowing that it's his mother at the opposite end of the situation.

The upcoming narrative would presumably not last too long considering that Supergirl has some bigger fish to fry with Reign (Odette Annable). The second Worldkiller has finally been revealed just before the show went on its hiatus, and Krys Marshall eventually debuted Julia Freeman's Purity's costume earlier this month. A third is one is expectedly being set up in time for season 3's biggest spectacle and rumor has it that Hell on Wheels alum Angela Zhou who has been as Dr. Grace Parker -  a brilliant National City surgeon who specializes in healing the sick and injured, is the last member of the villainous trio.
