Warning: Spoilers for Supergirl Season 2

Supergirl actress Katie McGrath reveals that she would love to see Aquaman star Jason Momoa guest star on the show in an upcoming season. Supergirl ended its second season this week, with a farewell to Mon-El (Chris Wood), and an ending that teases a whole new big bad for season 3. It was a season that improved on the first, included an incredible coming-out story arc for Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), and built a friendship between Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) and Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist).

It's a friendship that has been compared to that of Lex Luthor and Clark Kent in Smallville, and one that has fans speculating about the future of Lena Luthor. This could well be a slow burn toward making Lena a villain in the series, or it could just be a way to give Kara a female friend outside of Team Supergirl. McGrath herself hasn't let slip what fans can expect from her character in season 3, but she has mentioned who she would love to work with on the show - Jason Momoa.

The actress spoke to CinemaBlend about who she would love to see join the Arrowverse as a Supergirl character, and she waxed lyrical about Momoa:

Jason Momoa, because I've worked with him before and I love him. He gives the best hugs and he's the nicest man. And he is the actor I've worked with the most that has surprised me. You have a preconceived notion about who he is because of what he looks like and he comes in and he acts you off the screen. So I'd love to see him in any role. He doesn't have to be Aquaman. I don't care. He can come in and stand in the back of a shot and hold a pint of Guinness if he wants. He's just a delight to be on set with. I think everyone would watch that. The man is a god. He is a sea god, an actual god.

Supergirl Lena Luthor Katie McGrath

McGrath and Momoa have worked together in the past on the TV series Frontiera series about the Canadian fur-trade. McGrath appeared in two episodes of the series as Elizabeth Carruthers, while Momoa stars as Declan Harp.

Momoa already has a huge role in the DC Extended Universe as Aquaman, with a big role in the upcoming Justice League, as well as a solo movie set for release in 2018. However, the Arrowverse and the DCEU are not connected, which would allow Momoa to play a new character on Supergirl, if he were interested. As McGrath suggests, he could appear in a fanservice cameo on the show, or he could always play a new superhero, although it's likely that his packed filming schedule wouldn't leave a lot of room to commit to a full series.

Of course, this is just what McGrath would like to see in a perfect world, and doesn't mean that Momoa is likely to pop up in the Arrowverse any time soon. Still, if he were interested, the Arrowverse fans would undoubtedly love to see it - and maybe a salmon ladder contest between Momoa and Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen!

Supergirl will return for season 3 in the fall on The CW.
