Supergirl has been one of the Arrowverse’s longest-running superhero series since its kick-off in 2015 on CBS before moving to The CW for its second season. The Girl of Steel (Melissa Benoist) has had many adventures with several heroes against a number of villains in the last couple of seasons. As the show expands its world, so does the fandom that watches it every week, episode after episode. With so many characters and storylines that have taken place in the last few years, a lot of fan-art and memes have made their way onto the Internet. Through the material that comes from the fans, it adds so many things to laugh with and at the series, in good ways.
As the series goes on, there will always be more things that can come off as amusing that will be turned into funny memes. Since Supergirl has gone on for almost five years now, there are so many hilarious memes out there to choose from. With that said, these are ten memes that will put a smile on loyal fans of the show.
10 Playful SuperCorp
One of the dynamics of the series is the relationship between Kara and Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) that has gotten to a very big stage in the current season. After Lena found out last season that her best friend was the Girl of Steel, she is playing quite the mind game with Kara.
The relationship, which has been dubbed “SuperCorp” by several fans, has become one of the biggest things with the series. Whether it’s platonically or romantically, their relationship has been a key aspect since season two. If Kara had just told Lena sooner that she was Supergirl, maybe things would have turned out better.
9 Drunk Kara
It’s not easy to get a Kryptonian drunk while they’re on Earth under the yellow sun. However, Supergirl has found ways to get Kara drunk thanks to the alien dive bar that got introduced in the second season. That is when fans got to see the hero actually get drunk which was absolutely hilarious.
Imagine if that had escalated to the point where she prank calls Lena to tell her that she is actually…Batman! Bonus points if she showed up at Lena’s place in a Bat-cowl.
8 Cat Grant Squad
One of the best characters in the show’s entire history is and always will be Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant. The former Daily Planet writer who became a media mogul brought a special kind of energy to the series that it misses at this point. Since the show moved to The CW, Cat, unfortunately, didn’t stay in National City.
However, she has had several guest spots since then that are always fun. One of those times was when she during the Daxam invasion dragged Queen Rhea (Teri Hatcher) because that’s how cool she is. Kara’s reaction pretty much sums up the fandom’s reaction when that happened.
7 James Olsen’s Struggle
Since the beginning of Supergirl, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) has been one of the main characters in Kara’s story. It was only recently in this season where James officially left the series to start a new adventure in his life. However, it doesn’t change the fact that the writers had issues of finding him solid stories that connected with viewers.
As this meme hilariously sums it up, they tried a lot of things for James. With all due respect, when seeing all of these plots one after another, it does look hilarious what they have tried to do with him for the last few seasons.
6 Struggling Lies
In the fourth season, Supergirl’s identity became a target for the former President of the United States when Kara clashed with him. When Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones) was on the quest to find out the Girl of Steel’s secret, it put the D.E.O. in a difficult position as Alex (Chyler Leigh) and other agents knew that it was Kara.
An alternative way that this could have played out is Alex really going for it and pretending that she has no clue who Supergirl is which would have been hilarious if it had gone like this meme.
5 Who Wore It Best
Something that didn’t really get noticed by the majority of fans was the similar wardrobe style between Kara and Arrow’s Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards.) There were several times, especially in season one, where Kara wore a lot of similar outfits to Felicity.
It wasn’t until the Invasion! crossover where the shows pretty much acknowledged that they did look very similar. That along with this meme bringing up one of the many times they had similar looks, is hilarious.
4 Relatable Sibling Situation
Many siblings out there can probably relate to what Lena and Mon-El (Chris Wood) were going through in this moment. When Rhea insisted on Lena and Mon-El getting together through an arranged marriage, it was one of her more ridiculous demands, to say the least.
Every second they were forced to interact, it felt like two bickering siblings that were forced get along because their parents demanded it. This meme pretty much sums up the absurdity of that whole situation.
3 Lex’s Actual Crime
It’s no secret that Lena’s brother Lex (Jon Cryer) is evil to the bone, even before making his onscreen debut last season. With his long going war with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and the rest of the world, Lex has committed an endless list of crimes. However, there is one big way to mess with Kara and that is her big love for food which is one of the best things about her.
Every season, they make it clear that she loves herself a lot of food, desserts, snacks and more. We could absolutely buy Kara defining Lex as a monster if he was serving several life sentences for stealing not one but forty cakes.
2 DC TV Intros
When Arrow first started, the Stephen Amell-led series became known for its weekly “My name is Oliver Queen” introductions before they cut to their previously on sessions. Then came The Flash and we got the same thing every week with Grant Gustin delivering his “My name is Barry Allen” speech.
It only became really clear that it would continue when Supergirl started as Kara joined in on the DC TV intros. As sweet as both Kara and Barry are, we do understand Oliver for not being down with them taking his thing.
1 Kara’s Inner Darkness
Season three had a really big awkwardness when Mon-El came back from the future as a married man. Not only was he the founder of the Legion of Super-Heroes but he was married to one of its members, Saturn Girl (Amy Jackson.) While Mon-El had only been gone for seven months to Kara, he hadn’t seen her for seven years until they met again in season three.
Never had the show gotten so awkward because of this situation. While Kara handled it as well as she could, it’s definitely possible that internally, she was reenacting this meme when seeing Imra as Mon-El’s wife.
