While DC films have struggled mightily against Marvel's more popular MCU, the Arrowverse on the CW has kept DC's hopes alive for future interest in film adaptions of fan-favorite DC superheroes. The Arrowverse, which started with Arrow, now has numerous DC related content including that of Supergirl.

Many fans assumed that a Supergirl TV series would never work without Superman as the lead but this version of Kara Danvers has proven that she can hold her own. Let's find out what were her best and worst fights on the TV series?

Best: Supergirl VS Astra In-Ze

Fans of the Supergirl TV series will be familiar with her fan-favorite cousin Superman but some might be surprised to learn that these two are not the only living, breathing Kryptonians on Earth. Astra, Kara's aunt makes a heartwarming appearance on the show, allowing Kara to have a brief moment of feeling that she isn't alone on this strange new world. Sadly, Astra's intentions were less than pure and the two soon found themselves at odds with one another. The two went blow-for-blow until Supergirl finally gained the upper hand, ending her aunt's threat once and for all.

Let Down: Supergirl VS Silver Banshee

It's depressing when fans get a taste of what could be a really exciting villain only for that villain to fall so short of what he or she could have been. Sadly, fans got a taste of this with Silver Banshee, whose sonic boom of a scream put even Supergirl down a few times. Overall though, Silver Banshee was never a fan favorite on the show as she felt more pretentious and spoiled rather than villainous for evil sake. Her personality could have been forgiven if it wasn't so easy for Supergirl to defeat her with earplugs.

Best: Supergirl VS Lex Luthor

John Cryer showed off his full potential as an actor when taking on the role of Lex Luthor. He was true to the character's roots as someone whose charisma, intelligence, and deceitfulness pose a serious threat to Supergirl.

After getting villains to stage a fight where he saves the day, Luthor finds himself at the center of the public eye. However, his luck soon runs out as Supergirl's overwhelming might and eye lasers destroy his Kryptonite blasters forcing him to rely on his power suit for protection. In the end, it didn't provide much protection from Supergirl.

Let Down: Supergirl VS Indigo

Indigo Supergirl

Brainiac is by far one of the more powerful enemies of Superman and Supergirl. Not only is he strong enough to handle Superman's blows, his vast intellect is second to none, making it impossible to outsmart him. Sadly, Brainiac 8, who is also known as Indigo, fails to live up to her potential. While it should be noted that she did almost destroy the earth, it should also be noted that the worst she actually did was release names who subscribed to an adult dating site and kill a few soldiers.

Best: Supergirl Vs Rhea

Unfortunately, Kryptonians were not the only ones destroyed in the blast that ended Krypton, leaving only a handful of survivors. The explosion that destroyed Krypton also led to the destruction of the nearby world of Daxam. Rhea, the former Queen of Daxam had searched for years to find her missing son after the destruction of their homeworld only to discover that he refuses to leave his modest life on Earth. Blaming Kara, Rhea lashes out, nearly murdering Supergirl in the process. Luckily, Rhea's son manages to end her reign of terror for good.

Let Down: Supergirl Vs Mr. Mxyzptlk

Few gods are trickier to overcome than Mr. Mxyzptlk due to his inability to be harmed. In fact, the only real way to beat him is to get him to say his name backward. When Mr. Mxyzptlk comes to earth searching for a bride, he finds love with Kara but she doesn't feel the same.

When he tries to force her to love him, she threatens to blow herself up if he doesn't leave. After a brief fight with a giant ice Superman, Kara manages to get him to say his name. Winning by tricks isn't one of Supergirl's strongest moments.

Best: Supergirl VS Non

It isn't often that Supergirl finds one of her own species. In most cases, doing so leads to unfortunate sadness on her part as so many Kryptonian's who have come to earth seek domination of the planet rather than peaceful coexistence. Non, the husband of Astra, fits this category as he seeks to restore Krypton to its glory days, mostly at earth's expense. Non blames Supergirl for Astra's death, making their final confrontation all the more personal. At first, Non holds the upper hand until Supergirl finally overpowers his heat vision blinding him.

Let Down: Supergirl Vs Maxwell Lord

Not all villains have nefarious intentions. Maxwell Lord isn't exactly a bad guy, in fact, in his mind, he is the hero of his own story. His distrust of superheroes makes him an antagonist and on a few occasions, he has set his sights on Supergirl. While not having any powers of his own, Maxwell Lord has to rely on his intellect and sheer will. He created an alternate copy of Supergirl in an attempt to bring an end to the Kryptonian but this version of Bizarro didn't live up to the reputation of other versions of this villain.

Best: Supergirl VS Vartox

Vartox in Supergirl on the CW

Vartox was a notorious criminal, imprisoned by Kara's mother for his many crimes. A follower of Astra and Non, after finding himself free from Fort Rozz, Vartox attempted to use Supergirl's empathy for humans against her by threatening to murder the human race using a high-frequency sequence human brains could not withstand.

Their first meeting was dominated by Vartox who almost managed to kill Supergirl if not for the interference of the D.E.O.. Unfortunately, for him, their second meeting ended in disaster as Supergirl, using her heat vision destroyed his battle ax before pummeling him into submission.

Let Down: Supergirl Vs Bizarro

Bizarro in Supergirl

Bizarro in almost every version from cartoons to comics has never disappointed. For a character that has a small vocabulary, he can be funny and even heroic in his own distorted way. Sadly, Supergirl's version of Bizarro is none of that. Kara gets two shots at taking out Maxwell Lord's creation only to get defeated both times. The third and final time they faced, Supergirl was again over-matched but thanks to a sniper's bullet, Bizarro was defeated once and for all. With the final fight never fully being concluded, Bizarro remains undefeated against Supergirl.
