It's the dramatic DC Universe debut of Dreamer! When every hero on Earth is threatened by Henry Bendix's machinations, it's a race against time for Dreamer to warn Superman before it happens! But will this mysterious new ally's premonition become a nightmare for Jonathan Kent?

The main cover for the issue is illustrated by Travis Moore and the 1:25 variant cover is illustrated by Clayton Henry. There will additionally be an open variant by A.L. Kaplan featuring Dreamer with Jon Kent. This will be a big moment for Dreamer, as she gets to team up with one of DC's most iconic heroes. Maines has already had her comic debut with the story "Date Night", which was included in the DC Pride anthology in 2021. Additionally, she is writing the introduction for DC Pride 2022. Now, she will have a bigger opportunity to shine within the comic universe as she joins up with an incredible creative team that has been a champion for LGBTQIA+ comic fans.

Tom Taylor, series writer, says, "I'm so excited to work with Nicole Maines to bring Dreamer from the screen to the pages of Superman: Son of Kal-El and to the DC Comics Universe. I want to thank all the people at DC who have championed Dreamer and who recognize the importance of this powerful trans superhero in this time."

Nicole Maines, the co-writer of this upcoming issue, adds, "Jon Kent and Nia Nal are two characters that have a lot in common, both as superheroes with the weight of the world on their shoulders, and as young people with impossibly big shoes to fill. Weaving their stories together for Superman: Son of Kal-El with Tom was a complete pleasure, and there is only a little pun intended when I say that Superman and Dreamer make for a brilliant new Dream-Team."

Among Nia Nal's many abilities is precognition, which appears to be a key asset that will be explored in the upcoming issue. Additionally, as an up-and-coming reporter, this LGBTQIA icon will likely find a lot in common with Jon Kent's mother, Lois Lane, and his boyfriend, Jay Nakamura. Fans have a lot to be excited for when Supergirl's Dreamer joins the titular hero in DC Comics' Superman: Son of Kal-El #13, on sale July 12.
