Warning! Spoilers ahead for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #3!

In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #3, Supergirl, along with all other Kryptonians, is blamed for the destruction of Krypton. This occurs as Supergirl and her new alien friend Ruthye are on the hunt for the murderous villain known as Krem. Both of them are intent on taking down Krem once and for all after he killed Ruthye's father and Kara's best friend, Krypto the Superdog. In this issue, they have tracked down one of the recent places where Krem had been spotted.

Supergirl and Ruthye land on the planet Coronn and roam around the streets of its capital city, Maypole. Their many questions are not appreciated by Maypole's people, who clearly have something to hide. Things escalate to the point where the mayor orders a hit on Supergirl to try and make her leave the city. Obviously Supergirl doesn't appreciate the intimidation tactics and confronts the city leader head-on. Her investigations lead to the uncovering of Maypole's mass genocide at the hands of Supergirl's target Krem.

In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #3 by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, a waitress gets in Supergirl's face, blaming her for Krypton's destruction. The waitress argues this point to say that Kara can't just go around messing up other planets. Obviously, Supergirl has no intention of destroying anything on Coronn, but it's clear that the citizens of Maypole perceive her to be an intruding menace. It's a harsh, but sad detail that is extremely personal. This is a prejudice that the waitress, and other people, have against Kryptonians. They believe that they are the root cause for their planet's destruction, so they want nothing to do with them.

It's clear that Krypton's survivors are seen as a threat to some planets, perhaps more so to those who are living dangerously on the edge of survival. But also to those with something to hide, like Coronn, as Kryptonians like Supergirl and Superman have a strong connection to heroism and seeking out the truth. Based on Brian Michael Bendis' recent Superman run, Krypton's society was to blame for their world coming to an end. The planet was neutralized by a villain named Rogol, who claimed that if Krypton were to be left alone, the universe would've eventually become plunged into chaos. Although Supergirl and Krypton's citizens didn't literally kill Krypton, she and others who lived on the planet were the cause for the need to cleanse the universe of it. It's uncertain whether this remains canon or not, but it's clear that other aliens see the Kryptonians in a similar manner.

Obviously, Coronn's citizens are way too harsh on Supergirl and have an agenda against those who are different. It's likely that they would pick on any outsider. However, Krypton's history is common knowledge throughout the universe and Supergirl is a well-known quantity. She therefore makes an easy target as they draw parallels to their struggles. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #3 is available in comic book stores and on digital platforms now.
