Supergirl star Chyler Leigh, who plays Alex Danvers, teases a "big episode" for her character and girlfriend Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima). Supergirl returns from its spring hiatus in just over a week with 'Ace Reporter', and it's looking like this will be a big relationship-driven episode for the show. The episode guest stars iZombie's Rahul Kohli as Lena Luthor's (Katie McGrath) ex, and promises a lot of development of Lena and Kara's (Melissa Benoist) relationship as a result. In addition, Kara will be using her reporter skills again, as she starts to investigate Lena's ex - major news for both Kara and her friendship.

After 'Ace Reporter' wraps up, the relationship development continues in the next episode, titled 'Alex'. This one shifts the focus from Kara and Lena to Alex and her girlfriend Maggie, when Alex is kidnapped and Maggie and Kara have to work together to save her.

A synopsis for the episode has been released, and in addition, Chyler Leigh spoke to EW about what the episode means for her character. Leigh said:

Episode 19 is a very big episode for the both of them just because it comes to dire circumstances, where it’s a situation of a rescue. It causes Kara and Maggie to have to rely on each other to figure out what happened to Alex… You have to see how they work together, and you have to see how they’re both fighting for the person that they love, that they care about, and how that can take a toll if you have differing opinions, different ways that you kill aliens. It’s this really great example of how deep all of the relationships are, but it really does put Maggie and Alex to the test in a very great way, but it’s rather dire

Leigh has previously teased a "big development" for Alex and Maggie's relationship in the final few episodes of Supergirl season 2, so this could be something that happens in 'Alex'. However, we don't yet know what that "big development" could be (moving in together? a proposal? meeting the parents?), and the synopsis for the episode doesn't give too much away either:

ALEX IS KIDNAPPED – Alex (Chyler Leigh) is kidnapped and the kidnapper threatens to kill her unless Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) releases a notorious criminal from prison. Supergirl and Maggie (Floriana Lima) have always had different approaches to apprehending criminals but this time they must work together to save Alex. Meanwhile, Rhea (guest star Teri Hatcher) has an interesting proposal for Lena (Katie McGrath).

Even if this isn't the episode where the previously teased "big development" drops, fans can look forward to seeing a little more interaction between Maggie and Kara, especially as this isn't a team-up that the show has spent much time on in the past.
