The Super-Family will team-up in Action Comics #1025 against the Invisible Mafia, with both Jonathan Kent and Conner Kent. Brain Micheal Bendis has slowly been piecing together the Super-Family, with the reintroduction of Conner Kent in Young Justice, while also navigating a world where Superman has revealed himself to be Clark Kent. “House of Kent”, the recent storyline of Action Comics, has Superman up against the Invisible Mafia, a group that has been secretly controlling Metropolis. The Invisible Mafia has been the topic of Action Comics for quite some time now, and “House of Kent” brings the Super-Family head-on with the Invisible Mafia.

Conner Kent, Superboy, was properly reintroduced to the DC Universe in Rebirth. While fans might be familiar with a version of Conner Kent created for the New 52, this Conner Kent is from the pre-Flashpoint timeline. Bendis’ Young Justice explained where Superboy has been and in Action Comics #1022, Conner Kent and Superman finally have a chance to reconnect. Clark Kent doesn’t remember Superboy; Martha and John Kent are the only ones to remember Conner Kent out of the Super-Family. The two Superboys get to meet each other as well (Making Conner the older brother?), an interaction that has been a long time coming for Super-Fans.

While the “House of Kent” brings the conflict with the Invisible Mafia to a boiling point, it is also being used to strengthen the Super-Family. Jon Kent, the son of Superman and Lois Lane, has been in the 31st Century with the Legion of Superheroes. Supergirl, Kara Zor El, has been dealing with the aftermath of being infected by the Joker Who Laughs. By the end of Action Comics #1024, the Super-Family is reunited, and ready to take on the Invisible Mafia. Superman is dealing with the loss of close ally Fire Chief Melody Moore, which increases the tension between the Super-Family and the Invisible Mafia.

The Super-Family has been missing from the comics for some time now, and for Conner Kent to come back into the fold is a major step. Bendis has been weaving the Super-Family together since his takeover of the Superman titles. It would be nice to see recurring stories with the Super Family interacting with each other now that the pieces are in place. As Bendis heads towards the end of his Superman-run, stories such as the Invisible Mafia and the Red Cloud will be tied off with a bow. Bendis has shaken up the status quo for Superman, with acts such as Superman revealing his secret identity as Clark Kent. While Superman goes towards the future, at least he will have his family with him. Action Comics #1025 will be released on September 22nd.
