The internet's dreams have come true at last, as the widely speculated Minecraft form of Kirby has finally been revealed in today's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate stream. Introducing the latest addition to the game's roster, creator Masahiro Sakurai went through everything players would need to know to get to grips to playing as Minecraft Steve and Alex, the latest character to be added to the game. Steve and Alex (along with their Zombie and Enderman counterparts) are a complicated character set involving material-gathering and block-building for effective play.

As one might expect from Super Smash Bros. Ultiamte DLC, the included extras surrounding the character are highly detailed. The included Minecraft stage randomizes its appearance when not in its Omega form, just like a generated world in actual Minecraft. The stage can shift between multiple biomes that all generate different elements, and Villagers wander the stage in the background. Players who want to master Steve and company will have to extract specific materials from the environment and maintain their tools at a crafting table, all while fending off attacks from other mascots. The character's music is mostly from Minecraft spinoffs like Minecraft Dungeons, as the game's main tunes were deemed too "soothing and relaxing" for a platform fighter like Super Smash Bros. Steve also brings in spirit fighters based on multiple Minecraft foes, like a green Slime Kirby that splits into multiple, smaller Kirbys once initially defeated.

Speaking of Kirby, his anticipated blocky form made its first official appearance in Nintendo's Steve and Alex Super Smash Bros. Ultimate stream. When absorbing Steve, the usually round pink puffball transforms into a walking Minecraft cube. Normally, the most hotly debated and exciting part of a Super Smash Brospresentation is the new character(s) being added to the game. However, the reveal of Kirby's official Minecraft look is what a huge number of players were really looking forward to today, and Super Smash Bros. and Kirby creator Masahiro Sakurai delivered the goods.

Kirby's copy ability when fighting Steve lets him utilize several abilities that are straight out of Minecraft. As shown in today's explainer, Kirby can mine for crafting materials on any stage and then use those to generate blocks in midair. This gives Kirby another way to evade enemies, in addition to his signature ability to inhale and float through the air. This ability allows him (and the Minecraft quartet) to block opponents from moving freely, which can lead to some interesting ledge denial and creative KOs.

Just a day ago, many fans were speculating that a cube-shaped Minecraft Kirby would be revealed, and he's now an official part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Few potential Kirby transformations generated such speculation and fan art upon just a potential reveal, so it's sure to be popular whenever it pops up in regular play. With four more fighters left to go in Ultimate's second season pass, one can only wonder what crazy abilities Nintendo's most versatile mascot will pick up in the coming months. There's certainly room in Kirby's arsenal for a certain set of iridiscent green armor and golden visor.
