A fan at this year's BlockCon has created a massive and intricate Super Mario Bros level out of LEGO. The internet is no stranger to Nintendo LEGO projects, as a giant LEGO Bowser showcased at Comic-Con took social media by storm due to its sheer size and detail. That said, BlockCon's kinetic Super Mario LEGO level is a worthy competitor to that massive monument to the imposing King Koopa.
Beyond the Brick has gone into detail with 'Mario in Motion' creator Brandon Jones, who said the project required over 12,000 pieces, as reported by Nintendo Life. In order for all the mini-figures, from Mario himself to Goombas, Piranha Plants, and Bullet Bills, to move the way they do in-game, Jones used 14 motors, which he revealed to Beyond the Brick by opening up the colorful Super Mario level. Besides the side-scrolling pieces, there's also an impressive item randomizer at the top of the moving platforms.
Super Mario Bros LEGO Level Is Grander Than The Official Sets
While there is an official Super Mario LEGO set which is considerably impressive by itself, featuring a large yellow '? Block' that opens up to reveal various Super Mario 64 locations, Brandon Jones' custom-made side-scrolling Mario level goes above and beyond. Unfortunately, Jones doesn't plan on creating any more Nintendo-themed LEGO sets as of right now, and 'Mario in Motion' doesn't appear to be for sale. However, Jones' creation is more than impressive enough in observation alone.
The latest Super Mario-related title, Ubisoft's Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, was released in late October, and some have rated the turn-based strategy game even higher than its relatively successful predecessor. Although it has been a few years since a brand-new standalone Super Mario game that isn't Party, Kart, or Golf has been released, fans are given new Mario content regularly, and many are dedicated to what is arguably Nintendo's biggest franchise. The Super Mario movie starring Chris Pratt has filled some with skepticism, but it's not unreasonable to assume that even that controversial film will find success.
While Mario fans are awaiting the release of the movie, Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hope's entire DLC roadmap has already been revealed, offering three expansions released over the course of 2023. Excitingly, the iconic Rayman will be reintroduced alongside Mario and the Rabbids in the last DLC. Mario fans have quite a bit to look forward to within the next year, and impressive fan-made content goes hand-in-hand with new releases. It'll be interesting to see what's next for the Super Mario community, especially after last month's inexplicably expensive Mario Kart luxury watches.
