In Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, players can adjust how helpful Bowser Jr. is in the Bowser's Fury segment of the game. Super Mario 3D World was originally a Wii U game that released back in 2013, and it's just now receiving a long-awaited Switch port alongside an expansion pack, Bowser's Fury. The platformer is set to release on February 12, but there's still been plenty of news about the game even in just the past few weeks.

Last week, Nintendo showed off some new footage of the game in a couple of Japanese commercials. Additionally, when comparing footage of the Wii U version with gameplay from its Switch counterpart, it's obvious just how much faster Super Mario 3D World runs on the Switch, which is much more powerful than its predecessor, the Wii U.

As reported by Nintendo Life, Bowser Jr.'s degree of helpfulness can be adjusted in the Bowser's Fury portion of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. This information originates from a Tweet from the official @supermario35th account, and Twitter user @SubToadettPixel provided an English translation of the original Japanese Tweet. In the options menu of Bowser's Fury, the bottom selection roughly translates to "Bowser Jr. Assistant," which can be switched on or off. In Nintendo's original tweet, the last sentence roughly translates to: "the degree of help can be set." Take a look at the screenshot and translation for yourself below.

Because some players may want more help from Bowser Jr. and because others may want less, this is an interesting feature that Nintendo has included. It's great that Nintendo allows this kind of customization with Bowser Jr.'s resourcefulness to some extent, as some players may prefer more independence whereas others may want to breeze through the game. Nintendo isn't exactly known for its use of customization when it comes to options and difficulty levels, so it's nice to see that this feature is included.

However, one asset of this that could use some improvement is that Bowser Jr.'s help could be set on a spectrum. Rather than a simple "on" or "off" switch that players toggle, it would be even better if players could set Bowser Jr.'s helpfulness between a level of one and 10, for instance. That way, there would be an even greater degree of customization, as players could specifically choose just how helpful Bowser Jr. could be. Minor grievances aside, it's pleasing to see that Nintendo has included this component at all in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.
