The next World Count Challenge in Super Mario Bros. 35 involves a monolithic task, as players around the globe need to defeat 350 million Goombas. All people who participate in this event will earn 350 Platinum Points for their My Nintendo account.
Super Mario Bros. 35 is a battle royale game that is exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. The goal of the game is to survive the longest, as 35 players compete against each in the same selection of Super Mario Bros. stages. If one player kills an enemy, then it will be sent to the screen of another player that they're targeting. The longer a game goes on, the more chaotic it becomes, as the screen slowly fills up with Goombas and Bowsers.
Nintendo recently held a World Count Challenge in Super Mario Bros. 35, where players managed to slay five million Bowsers. The second World Count Challenge has been announced on the official Japanese Nintendo Twitter page. The upcoming World Count Challenge will run from February 23 to March 2, and players are tasked with killing 350 million Goombas during that time. Any Goomba that is slain during the 35-Player Battle mode or the Special Battle mode will count towards the total. It doesn't matter how the players do the deed, as stomping, fireballs, or invincibility from the star will all count.
The reward for completing the task is 350 Platinum Points, which can be spent on digital items or physical merchandise on the My Nintendo Store. These include items like replicas of the invitation letters from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It doesn't matter how many Goombas a player slays, as they only need to dispose of a single one in order to receive the Platinum Points.
The Nintendo Switch has featured a lot of global player events over the past year. Pokémon Sword and Shield have featured several events where players need to defeat a million of a certain type of Pokémon. There is even a Gigantamax Pikachu event taking place next week, where players need to knock out a million of them over the course of three days. The Switch fanbase has proven itself up to the task of these global challenges, and there is no doubt that these 350 million Goombas will be vanquished by a legion of Super Mario Bros. 35 fans. If they can handle five million Bowsers, then 350 million Goombas shouldn't pose much of a challenge.
The 350 million Goombas event in Super Mario Bros. 35 will run from February 23 to March 2.
