Netflix unveils the trailer for Super Crooks offering the first look at the streaming platform's anime series adaptation of Mark Millar's comics. Created by Millar and Leinil Francis Yu and published by Icon Comics in 2012, the four-issue comic book revolved around supercrook the Heat as he is helped by his biggest fan Johnny Bolt and his friends to help clear the former's large gambling debt before he's killed. To do so, the group must venture to Spain and rob the world's most notorious super villain.

Netflix first began working with Millar in 2017 when the streamer platform acquired his banner Millarworld, becoming the third comic book company in history to be bought by a major studio after Disney acquired Marvel Studios and Warner Communications' purchase of DC Comics in the late '60s. The partnership would entail new comics would continue to be published through Millarworld and subsequently adapted for different media at Netflix, the first of which was the short-lived Jupiter's Legacy series. An anime adaptation of Supercrooks was announced in 2019 with My Hero Academia studio Bones set to produce the series and two years later, Netflix has exciting news for fans of the comics.

The first trailer for Super Crooks is sure to come as an exciting tease of what audiences can expect from the series, namely its blend of the heist comedy genre with the super-powered world. In a time in which shows such as The Boys continues to prove popular for its subversions and takedowns of the latter, the video certainly looks like another promising effort for this with Millar's unique sense of dark humor strewn throughout. Additionally, with the animation displaying both stylish and faithful translations of Francis Yu's artistry for the comics, those familiar with the source material are sure to be pleased at the visuals staying true to the pages.

The anime adaptation of Super Crooks comes at an interesting time for both Millar and Netflix. Just a few months ago, the streamer announced it would not be moving forward with Jupiter's Legacy season 2, despite plans already being in the works for the next chapter, and instead confirming a live-action adaptation of Super Crooks that would connect to the cancelled series. With the latter reportedly still in the early stages of development, fans can look forward to the arrival of the anime adaptation first when it hits Netflix on November 25.
