UPDATE: Watch all the Super Bowl 2020 Movie and TV trailers here.

Who's performing at the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show? This year’s game features the Kansas City Chiefs competing against the San Francisco 49ers, and many people will undoubtedly be watching to see quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Jimmy Garoppolo, perhaps for entirely different reasons (on-field play vs. off-field image). For many people, however, the halftime show is indeed the main attraction.

Last year, several musicians declined invites to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, primarily because of an on-going dispute between the NFL and Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback who protested racial inequality by kneeling during the U.S. National Anthem in regular season games. Ultimately, Maroon 5 and Big Boi accepted offers and took the stage in Atlanta, Georgia. Because of the host city’s musical legacy, many people hoped for an all-ATL lineup, but the underlying tension meant that NFL executives had to comprise.

For the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show, the selected performers correlate with Miami’s international flavor and culture. And rather than featuring male artists with significantly different styles, the NFL instead chose two female pop stars who fully understand how Miami rolls. Here are the scheduled halftime performers for Super Bowl LIV.

The Super Bowl 2020 Halftime Show Kickoff Time

Superbowl 2020 Who 49 Chiefs

The 2020 Super Bowl kicks off on February 2 at 6:30 p.m. EST on Fox, preceded by a pre-game show featuring performances by Demi Lovato, DJ Khaled, Yolanda Adams, Dan + Kay Shay, and Miami native Pitbull

As for the actual start time of the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show — which will complement highly-anticipated promos — there are a couple factors to consider. For one, the first half duration will be longer than a typical game because of the commericals. Two, Kansas City tends to pass a lot, while San Francisco prioritizes the run. So, if the game moves rather quickly, and it seemingly will, the first half will end around 8:00 p.m. EST, if not shortly before. Expect the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show to run for approximately 30 minutes and begin around 8:00 p.m. EST, give or take 10 minutes.

Jennifer Lopez & Shakira Are Super Bowl 2020's Halftime Show Performers

American performer Jennifer Lopez and Colombian entertainer Shakira are scheduled for the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show. Both female artists have worldwide fanbases, and both are known for their extraordinary dancing abilities.

Lopez began her career as a “Fly Girl” dancer on the sketch comedy series In Living Color, and later starred in the ‘90s films Selena, Anaconda, and Out of Sight. By 1999, Lopez dropped her debut album On the 6, and has since released seven more solo albums. In 2019, she starred in the critically-acclaimed film Hustlers

After releasing four Spanish-language albums during the ‘90s as a teenage pop star, Shakira released her mainstream crossover Laundry Service in 2001. The single “Whenever, Wherever” became a pop culture sensation, while later singles like “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Beautiful Liar” dominated the Billboard charts. Shakira is Colombia’s best-selling musical artist. In 2018, she won her third Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album (El Dorado), and holds the record for most Latin Grammys by a female artist with 13.

Spanish rapper Bad Bunny made a cameo in a silver suit during the Super Bowl 2020 Halftime show.
