Amazon has released its premiere date for the new season. The Summer I Turned Pretty will drop new episodes on July 14, 2023. Unlike season 1, which released all its episodes at once and allowed fans to binge the entire season, season 2 will release episodes weekly. The first three episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 will drop on Amazon on July 14. The rest of the episodes of season 2 will be available weekly, a new one dropping every week until August 18. Belly and Conrad's relationship will surely be explored more in the upcoming season, as well as how the Fisher family copes with Susannah's illness. It is also likely that season 2 will follow Han's second novel in her trilogy, It's Not Summer Without You.

The second novel sees Belly dreading a return to the beach for the summer as her relationship with Conrad isn’t going as well as she hoped. When Jeremiah calls to tell her Conrad has disappeared though, Belly becomes determined to put things right at the beach where the three of them have always had the best time. The book switches its point of view among the three characters and also flashes back and forth between the present with Belly and Jeremiah bonding on their search for Conrad, and the past with Belly’s long-distance relationship with Conrad throughout the school year. It’s unknown just how much of the novel season 2 will adapt as there are bound to be changes for the show, but it’s likely the same storyline will be present in some form.

The trailer features the trio playing volleyball, go-karting, and messing around on golf carts. However, it won't all be fun and games. Season 2 will also see several of the main characters at graduation, which could be the place for drama or good times, or both. An image of Belly and Conrad at a prom sees them both extremely concerned despite being in each other's arms, and most interestingly, the trailer depicts a fight breaking out at a house party, confirming that season 2 is doubling down on the drama.

There have been very few casting announcements in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 news. The original cast is expected to return. The show’s official social media accounts gave updates from the filming of season 2 with the core trio of actors (Tung, Briney, and Casalegno) appearing in many of the images and videos from their filming locations.

Jackie Chung (Laurel), Sean Kaufman (Steven), Rain Spencer (Taylor), Summer Madison (Nicole), David Iacono (Cam), and Rachel Blanchard (Susannah) also appeared in images shared by the official social media accounts during filming, so they likely all will appear in season 2. There are a handful of new faces for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 as well. Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher have been announced as new additions for the season. While Sedgwick’s role hasn’t been disclosed, Fisher will be playing a new character named Skye.

Fortunately, the trailer also hints that the rally to save the house will bring everyone who has become distant back together.

The season will be full of drama, and there'll be a surprising amount of action too.
