This past April, Bravo announced that a new spinoff special was coming: Summer House Winter Charm. It's essentially the combination of Southern Charm and Summer House where the cast members live together for two weeks for a winter getaway.
Fans knew something was brewing a couple of months back because certain cast members for both shows were showing off videos of snowy mountains and ski attire. It would have been too much of a coincidence for that group to vacation in the same spot. And as it turns out, fans were right. The series is coming this year with summer-loving Bravolebrities braving the winter elements.
When Is It Premiering?
According to Bravo's The Daily Dish, Summer House Winter Charm is hitting screens this fall. A release date is yet to be determined. With the chilly vibe that the show has, a premiere date in the fall makes more sense than in the summer. It will also give Bravo enough time to edit and market the show since not much is known thus far.
Who's A Part Of The Cast?
An official roster for the show's cast hasn't been released yet but based on the social media accounts of a few Bravolebrities, it looks like Summer House Winter Charm will be Summer House-heavy.
According to The List, Summer House's Amanda Batula, Kyle Cooke, Lindsay Hubbard, Paige DeSorbo, Ciara Miller, and Luke Gulbranson are a part of the series. Austen Kroll and Craig Conover are the only ones from Southern Charm that appear to be rounding out the cast.
Where Does It Take Place?
With a winter theme to the series, People notes that the cast filmed in Stowe, Vermont. Everyone arrived at the cozy lodge sometime in February to start shooting. The group underwent multiple COVID-19 checks to make sure everyone was healthy enough to film.
The cast has kept a tight lip about their time in Vermont and hasn't disclosed too many hints about what their time was like at the snowy getaway.
Is There A Rivalry Between Castmates?
After fans picked up on the fact that Bravo was brewing something big with the Southern Charm and Summer House groups, they started brainstorming what the cast would be doing in Vermont. Aside from relaxing (partying) at the lodge, the introductory trailer for the series makes it look like the group goes head to head in a competition of sorts.
The brief snippet shows Luke, Paige, Kyle, and Amanda going against Ciara, Craig, Austen, and Lindsay in a game of tug of war. Wearing Viking helmets, face paint, and winter gear, the group simultaneously pulled until everyone fell. It'll be interesting to see if this is a show parallel to The Challenge, in which competitions are added to see which cast members come out on top.
Andy Hates The Name
Andy Cohen is the face of Bravo though he doesn't work on Southern Charm or Summer House. He hosts the reunions and has the casts on as guests for Watch What Happens Live but that's the extent of it.
This came up when Andy did an Instagram Live with Austen and Craig (although Andy would make a great guest on their podcast, Pillows and Beer. Austen asked Andy if he liked the new name for the show (it was originally rumored as Winter House) and Andy didn't hold back. "I never say anything publicly against Bravo, but I actually saw the name and I've been meaning to call two people at Bravo to say, 'What are you thinking?'” Cohen remarked. With Andy known as Bravo's "daddy" perhaps he has the pull to give the show a better name.
Love Is In The Air?
After rumors began swirling over the spinoff, fans of both series wanted to know if the men of Southern Charm were going to leave "winter house" enamored with some of the single ladies of Summer House. There was speculation that Craig and Paige were hooking up, but Paige set the record straight on the Not Skinny Not Fat podcast. It's also been rumored that Austen has also taken a liken to Summer House's Ciara and Lindsay (although Lindsay clarified she and Austen were "best friends"). There's always a twinge of drama in the romance world when these forces team up and fans can't wait to find out more.
Will Southern Charm Ladies Pop Up?
It's interesting that Summer House Winter Charm only has two members of Southern Charm. It's hard to imagine Whitney or even the new and improved Shep joining the series, but what about some of the Southern Charm ladies? Katherine Dennis could make for a surprise pop-in, as could former castmembers Chelsea Meissner and Cameron Eubanks. A real shakeup in the house would be if Austen's ex-girlfriend Madison Lecroy dropped in. Madison, Austen, and Craig had a horrible reunion, which would only make for a super dramatic spinoff.
