Hannah Berner is being trashed for fundraising after mocking her co-star, Luke Gulbranson’s mental illness. Unfortunately, the Summer House vet made some ill-timed jokes at the expense of others, and now viewers feel she is trying to capitalize on her mistake.
Berner was once a fan favorite, but after season 5, she quickly was demoted to the villain. Fans of the show were not impressed with how the tennis pro decided to treat most of her roommates, and most of the cast, except for Paige DeSorbo and Ciara Miller, turned their backs on the comedian. Berner made fun of Gulbranson’s mental health struggles and insinuated that Carl Radke had a drug problem. In addition, Berner had a habit of talking badly about her roommates on and off the screen. She was even uninvited from Kyle Cook and Amanda Batula’s upcoming wedding.
Even though the Bravo personality spoke about how this past year has been about learning and growing, fans were not quite convinced that she got the message. It was recently revealed that Berner had been invited to partake in a fundraiser for mental health. Fans flocked to Reddit to share their thoughts, with one saying, “The irony of Hannah being invited to do a show raising money f mental health awareness when she has yet to apologize to Luke for making fun of his suicidal ideations.” Suffice it to say; viewers were not impressed.
Get Head Strong shared a flyer showing that they had invited Berner to participate in prohibition comedy. The goal was to raise money for mental health awareness. The money is set to go toward helping out veterans who are struggling from the onset of war. Summer House fans were not thrilled to see Berner up next to comedians like Rosebud Baker and felt she hadn’t earned her place. One Bravo fan wrote, “I feel like she will use this as like a PR boost. She’s not actually sorry by what she said. It’s disappointing the organization would even involve her. As I said though, I think she wants to try and redeem herself a little. Like I was unaware of the actions my words have... cue pre-rehearsed apology or acting victim. I’m kind of sliding for the victim card.”
Not one contributor to the thread was impressed by the decision to allow Berner on stage. She was dropped by her sponsors recently and found it hard to see her faults during the Summer House reunion. Bravo viewers don’t look like they will be missing the New Yorker and are looking toward the new season without her.
