The title of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League suggests that DC's greatest heroes will meet their demise at the player's hands, and Rocksteady has the opportunity to deliver some truly epic and spectacular deaths. The multiplayer third-person shooter, which revealed gameplay in a new trailer in the first Sony State of Play of 2023, will let players take control of Task Force X members Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark as they fight to protect Metropolis. These morally grey anti-heroes will face off against beloved superheroes like Superman and The Flash, with these corrupt paragons likely meeting brutal and violent ends.

While the game's premise casts Brainiac as the villain of Suicide Squad: KTJL, the co-op superhero shooter sets up the Justice League as Metropolis' most immediate threat. It remains to be seen whether DC's mightiest heroes have been corrupted through brainwashing, cloning, or another nefarious method, but the game will ask players to become the Suicide Squad and eliminate Earth's protectors without remorse. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's initial reveal trailer set up Superman as an insurmountable threat, while subsequent trailers have revealed that Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Batman will also be involved and may meet violent ends at the player's hands.

Suicide Squad: KTJL Can Let Lex Luthor Kill Superman

Superman with glowing red eyes in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

As arguably DC Comics' most powerful hero, Superman is set up to be the most imposing Justice League member in Suicide Squad: KTJL. The game's reveal trailer shows the Man of Steel seemingly save a pilot from a crashing helicopter, only to immediately vaporizes the helpless civilian to reveal the game's ruthless Justice League antagonists. The Last Son of Krypton is virtually indestructible, immensely strong, and can fly at incredible speeds. Considering this repertoire of powers, the idea of characters like Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang actually defeating Superman seems ludicrous.

However, Superman's death in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League may poetically come about with the help of Lex Luthor. The genius supervillain appears in a new gameplay video, revealed at Sony's State of Play on February 23rd, confirming his appearance in the game. As Earth's greatest authority on battling Superman, Suicide Squad: KTJL's Lex Luthor can likely supply Task Force X with kryptonite or Red Sun weaponry capable of actually denting the Man of Steel. This would ironically make Luthor one of humanity's greatest saviors, with Superman as its foremost threat, which is likely already what the villain sees himself as.

One Of The Flash's Greatest Foes May Kill Him In KTJL

The Flash bound by Wonder Woman's lasso in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

After Superman, The Flash has been set up as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's most dangerous and prolific enemy. The lightning-fast protector of Central City is practically impossible to shoot, as demonstrated through cinematic trailers for the game, which makes him a particularly terrifying enemy to face in a third-person shooter. Considering that Task Force X seems completely unable to land a hit on Flash in cutscenes, it remains to be seen how they will kill the corrupted hero in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gameplay.

While players will have four anti-heroes to choose from in Suicide Squad: KTJL, Captain Boomerang has a particularly personal vendetta against the Fastest Man Alive. The anarchic Australian villain is one of Flash's most well-known adversaries, and their rivalry has already been made clear throughout the game's marketing. Considering their history, it would be fitting for Captain Boomerang to deliver the killing blow and eliminate Flash. Wonder Woman is shown breaking Flash's corruption with her Lasso of Truth in the Sony State of Play Suicide Squad: KTJL gameplay trailer, so the noble hero may even let himself be killed as a somber sacrifice rather than succumbing to Brainiac's control again.

Suicide Squad: KTJL Can Exploit Green Lantern's Big WeaknessGreen Lantern John Stewart sits on a green throne in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

While marketing for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has emphasized Superman and Flash, brief snippets have also been shown of Green Lantern. The intergalactic lawman John Stewart has clearly been corrupted by Brainiac alongside his fellow Justice League members, with the former hero possibly being Suicide Squad: KTJL's most terrifying Justice Leaguer. Green Lantern is shown attacking Task Force X with an arsenal of weapons formed by his signature green power ring, making him a certified one-man army who is also able to fly and resist damage while dishing out heavy firepower.

Green Lantern has the potential to be an epic third-person shooter boss fight, with the hero using his ring to face all four Suicide Squad members at once. However, Task Force X may be able to take advantage of one of Green Lantern's most well-known and easily accessible weaknesses: the color yellow. Luring Stewart to a yellow location would be a clever and effective way to weaken the spacefaring peacekeeper, with open-world Suicide Squad gameplay possibly letting players plan and execute this tactic themselves. John Stewart's death could also lead to his power ring seeking out a successor, like Kyle Rayner or Guy Gardner, to serve as an ally or additional opponent.

Suicide Squad: KTJL May Give Wonder Woman A Tragic DeathWonder Woman pleads with Flash in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Of the five Justice League members set to appear in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Wonder Woman is the only hero who appears unaffected by Brainiac's corruption. The noble Amazon warrior is instead seen fighting back against her corrupted allies, going head-to-head against Superman, and binding Flash with her Lasso of Truth during the February State of Play trailer. This suggests that Princess Diana will serve as an ally to Task Force X, possibly helping them devise a plan to kill the Justice League and stop Brainiac's evil plan.

Despite her apparent role as an ally in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Wonder Woman may still die alongside her allies. While it seems that Wonder Woman can resist Brainiac's control, she may eventually fall victim to the intergalactic invader and force players to take her down. Wonder Woman could also tragically fall to one of her fellow heroes, with Superman possibly killing her in battle to cement his status as the game's most intimidating foe. Wonder Woman being killed by Superman would be incredibly emotional, considering her status as an ally in Suicide Squad: KTJL and a long-time friend of the Man of Steel.

Suicide Squad: KTJL May Finally Kill Arkhamverse Batman

A corrupted Batman in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Rocksteady recently revealed that Batman will appear as an enemy in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, with the late great Kevin Conroy lending his voice to Rocksteady's Arkhamverse one last time. Conroy's final performance as the Caped Crusader ensures that Suicide Squad: KTJL is going to be emotional, and the Arkhamverse' Batman may sadly meet his end at the hands of players when Task Force X faces off against the brooding vigilante. Players have bested powerful foes as Batman throughout the Arkham series, but his corruption by Brainiac means the Dark Knight may finally be laid to rest.

Unlike the other members of the Justice League, Batman is a human who cannot resist or dodge gunshots. This means that a conventional boss fight against the Caped Crusader in a third-person shooter like Suicide Squad: KTJL should theoretically be easy, so the corrupt hero will no doubt use stealth and trickery to pose an actual threat. However, any of the game's four protagonists should be able to kill Batman once he runs out of tricks. With Suicide Squad: KTJL flipping the Batman: Arkham script, it might be poetic for Harley Quinn to finally kill Batman after various attempts at avenging the death of Joker back in Arkham City.

While killing DC's greatest protectors may be bittersweet for some fans, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will force players to hunt their heroes to save the world. The game's entire Justice League roster is impressive, with each member likely posing a significant threat to Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. Superman and Green Lantern have clear weaknesses to exploit, however, while Wonder Woman may wind up dead at the hands of one of her own heroic allies. Finding Batman and hitting Flash pose challenges of their own, but Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League can still live up to its name by letting players bring down their heroes.
