Ever since Rocksteady Studios announced Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in August of 2020, fans have eagerly awaited the chance to see their favorite bad guys fighting their favorite villains. The game will feature the titular Task Force X as they attempt to bring down the supervillain Brainiac, who invades Earth and brainwashes the Justice League.

Thanks to the trailers, players already know the identities of many characters that will feature in the long-awaited game. However, new announcements come every day, and the recent DC FanDome trailer featured some new additions to the game's narrative that have fans even more excited.

Harley Quinn

During the last few years, Harley Quinn became a bonafide star. Harley is one of DC's biggest assets, whether she's in the comic books, starring on her own animated show, or injecting some much-needed energy into the DCEU. Indeed, the critically acclaimed The Suicide Squad made it clear that Harley is the DCEU's best character.

Harley will be part of Task Force X in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Unlike previous occasions where she plays the role of the unreliable wildcard, Harley seems very invested in the mission this time. Gizmo does refer to her as a "nutjob," so audiences will surely get some of her trademark wild antics in the game.

Deadshot

Deadshot in Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League

Not many fans might know this, but Deadshot was one of the many characters who debuted in the Golden Age of comic books. He first appeared in Batman #59 in 1950, quickly becoming one of the Dark Knight's most recurring foes. Although he has a reputation as one of DC's deadliest assassins, many adaptations portray Deadshot as an anti-hero.

That seems to be the case for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. As the straight man of the group, Deadshot has few lines in the trailer compared to Boomerang or Harley. He might assume to role of leader, considering he's the most serious of the four. SSKtJL's version of Deadshot will be different than the one fans saw in previous Arkham games. This Deadshot is a Black man who killed the previous Deadshot, stealing his equipment and becoming the new version of the character.

Captain Boomerang

Captain Boomerang doesn't always get the respect he deserves. Many consider him a second-tier villain despite his long history as a Flash rogue, often using him as the butt of the joke. Two characters have assumed the Captain Boomerang mantle: the original, George "Digger" Harkness, and his son, Owen Mercer.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League might be a turning point for the character. The trailers reveal he's still the butt of the joke, but he now has a leading role in the story after years of playing second fiddle. The Boomerang in the game will be the "Digger" Harkness version of the character, although he'll also have Owen Mercer's super speed.

King Shark

King Shar baring his teeth in Kill the Justice League

Comic book fans know that King Shark debuted as a villain for Superboy before eventually making his way to the larger DC continuity. Often depicted as bizarre mutation, Nanaue's origins were retconned in the Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis series, turning him into the son of the Shark God.

In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, King Shark is the last member of Task Force X. He can talk fluently and appears far more intelligent and capable than previous live-action versions, like the goofy and lovable gentle giant in The Suicide Squad.

Brainiac

Brainiac's Skull Ship invading Metropolis in Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League

Brainiac is one of the best villains in the DC Universe, arguably Superman's most formidable and cleverest foe. In the comics, Brainiac is infamous for shrinking and stealing Kandor and is even the mastermind behind Krypton's destruction in some storylines.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will most likely feature Brainiac as the main villain. The character invades Earth, taking control of Metropolis. He is also the one who seemingly brainwashed the Justice League and turned them evil, explaining why Waller wants Task Force X to kill the heroes.

Amanda Waller

Amanda Waller looking serious in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Despite having no superpowers or abilities, Amanda Waller is one of the most dangerous characters in the DC Universe. Cold, cunning, ruthless, and with a complete disregard for human life, Waller, AKA The Wall, is infamously ambivalent. Waller uses her influence within the government to advance her interests, including forming and commanding Task Force X and investigating meta-humans.

Like in most of her incarnations, Waller will direct Task Force X's mission in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Waller already appeared in previous games in the Arkham series. However, Kill the Justice League will be the first time where CCH Pounder doesn't voice her. Instead, Debra Wilson will lend her voice and portray the character via motion capture.

Superman

Superman with glowing red eyes in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

The Man of Steel himself will be one of the main antagonists in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The ultimate superhero and one of the strongest beings in all of DC will go head to head with Task Force X after seemingly falling under Brainiac's control.

Kill the Justice League isn't the first time the Man of Steel went rogue. Superman's turned evil plenty of times before, whether because he accidentally killed Lois Lane or because his pod crashed-landed in the Soviet Union. Fans might not be used to seeing the Last Son of Krypton playing for the bad guys, but it's not like it's a shock either.

Flash

The Flash talking in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Many characters have assumed the Flash mantle over the years. However, Barry Allen remains the most recognizable version since debuting during the Silver Age of comic books. He's played a prominent role in the DC Universe over the years, give or take a few decades when he was dead.

Although fans know Flash will appear in Kill the Justice League, it's unclear which version of the Flash will fight Task Force X. His costume resembles the one Ezra Miller's Barry wears in the DCEU, but Rockstead has yet to confirm if Barry is indeed the Flash in their games.

Green Lantern

The Green Lantern Corps have some of the most exciting powers in any comic book continuity. Their rings of power allow them to create all kinds of structures and weapons, making them unique among all the other supers in the DC Universe.

The second trailer for Kill the Justice League seemingly confirmed John Stewart as the game's Green Lantern. He makes a brief appearance near the end, climbing down a set of stairs created by his ring. Like Superman and Flash, he seems to be under Brainiac's control, and it'll be intriguing to see how Task Force X combats his powers.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman standing against a dark background

The Princess of Themyscira herself will grace Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League with her presence. Wonder Woman, one-third of DC's holy trinity and arguably the best female superhero of all time, is a crucial member of the Justice League, appearing in almost all of the team's adventures.

In the game, Wonder Woman seems like the only JL member who isn't under Brainiac's control. At one point, the trailers even show her fighting against Superman. This battle might happen after Task Force X somehow releases her from Brainiac's control, or perhaps it's a flaw in Brainiac's plan. However, it wouldn't be absurd to think she was strong enough to resist the villain's influence.
