Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was revealed as the title of the newly announced Suicide Squad game developed by Rocksteady Studios. The implication of this title makes it sound like the game will follow the events of DC Comics six-issue limited series Justice League vs. Suicide Squad, but this has yet to be confirmed. More details are reported to come out during DC FanDome which begins on Saturday, August 22 but was recently split into two different FanDome events.

The newly announced game has been in the works for some time, and was announced officially on August 10. It has been confirmed that Superman will be a part of the game, and it had originally been thought that he would be the main focus. However, the title implies that the stars of the 2016 film will be the driving point to the story.

The Suicide Squad comics released by DC in 2017 are not confirmed to be the source material, but similar titles suggest that they might contain valuable insight as to what fans can expect. The comic has dozens of all-star characters such as Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and more. Rumors on Reddit suggest that this crew might actually be the enemy, and that heroes such as Flash and Wonder Woman would represent boss fights. With the game's title release, that looks even more likely.

What Suicide Squad Is Rumored To Include

Suicide Squad Superman

The story of the Suicide Squad comic goes that both the Suicide Squad and Justice League both respond to a terrorist act, but end up fighting each other. Surprisingly, the Justice League is defeated and kept in a warehouse. There, they are put under mind control by the telepathic Maxwell Lord, who forces the members of the Justice League to do his bidding. Batman, the lone Justice League member who was not controlled, manages to escape. It's up to him to make amends with the Suicide Squad, with some differing characters from the 2016 film.

Rumors have been flying about the game, but nothing official has been released. With nothing more to go by than "my uncle works at Nintendo" statements, all fans can do is speculate until DC FanDome's Suicide Squad panel, which takes place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 23. Until then, here are some rumors users on Reddit have posited:

  • Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a co-op game with RPG elements.
  • The main goal is either assassinate or capture the the seven members of the Justice League, who are comparable to raid bosses in strength.
  • Superman, Wonder Woman and The Flash cannot be killed, only captured.
  • The Justice League is made up of Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Red Robin and Cyborg.
  • No Batman, because Warner Bros. doesn’t want their golden goose shown off as a punching bag.
  • Martian Manhunter will be added in a future update.
  • Playable characters in the Suicide Squad include Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Cheetah, Bane, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, and Gorilla Grodd.
  • Red Hood will also be added, but as a PlayStation exclusive character.

As for the truth behind these rumors, take them with a pinch of salt. Thankfully, fans will be learning more about Suicide Squad's video game soon, during Rocksteady's game reveal at DC FanDome.
