Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is inching closer to its release date, but it has yet to show off much gameplay footage - a fact that will hopefully change in February's PlayStation State of Play. A steady stream of information has come out regarding the game, but an oddly small amount of time has been devoted to the actual Kill the Justice League gameplay. This has led to KTJL's prerelease cycle having an odd feeling to it.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League gameplay should be shown soon at February 2023's State of Play and is coming at the heels of the titular group's recent relevance, particularly 2020's The Suicide Squad movie. KTJL has been playing into the Squad's more notable qualities. It features a playable roster consisting of four of the most well-known members of the Squad, and the trailers have emphasized the same sort of irreverent humor that the movies reveled in. The interesting idea of pitting the Suicide Squad against the Justice League has done an admirable job of building excitement as well, but it's about time real Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gameplay footage was shown.

Suicide Squad: KTJL Gameplay Hasn't Been Shown Off Much (Yet) In Trailers

The four main characters from Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League looking up

Suicide Squad: KTJL trailers have placed a heavy emphasis on cinematics and showing off the characters. The downside of this approach is that the gameplay has received little attention in return. Small glimpses of combat have been shown, but only in short bursts before the attention turns back to cutscenes. The main details that are known include each protagonist being equipped with firearms as well as their own unique abilities. Although KTJL's shooter mechanics make no sense with Captain Boomerang and King Shark around, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League gameplay feels like an afterthought where marketing is concerned due to so little of it being shown.

Suicide Squad Is Hard To Assess Without KTJL Gameplay Footage

Task Force X (Aka. The Suicide Squad) in the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League game

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is supposed to release in May, so one would expect more revelations about the gameplay by this point rather than the bare minimum. Since in-game footage has been so scarce, prospective players haven't had a chance to see what they should expect from KTJL. The lack of content in this regard keeps people from getting excited over playing because there's little confirmation of what they can actually do. Even the knowledge that a squad member could die in KTJL can't entice people to buy if they don't know how it plays.

Another side effect of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League's promotion ahead of February 2023's State of Play focusing on cinematics is that it runs the risk of burning fans out on them before they even buy the game. Similar to how a comedy film can wear out its best jokes in trailers, KTJL is in danger of doing the same thing. At this point, it's already common knowledge that the main cast are irreverent rogues, and the premise of them fighting the Justice League is also well-known. If KTJL's trailers and previews keep focusing on highlights from the cutscenes like Batman's return in Kill The Justice League, there will be no surprises left at release.

It's increasingly vital that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League's gameplay hasn't been shown off yet in trailers. Hopefully, that will change soon with PlayStation's State of Play happening on February 23, 2023. If there's nothing to give an idea of what playing the game will be like, there will be less incentive for players to buy it unless they are big Suicide Squad fans. For the sake of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League's future, concrete gameplay footage needs to be released soon.
