The upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has officially been delayed out of 2022, receiving a hefty push-back. Batman: Arkham series developer Rocksteady’s latest DC-based game was announced during the first DC Fandome livestream in 2020, and will put players in the role of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang as they are tasked with hunting down the members of the Justice League after their minds are taken over by the evil Brainiac during the events of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

Since its unveiling, Rocksteady and WB Games have been slowly revealing details about Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League's plot and gameplay, which will let players control all four members of Task Force X - each one with their own special skills and abilities on top of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League's over-the-shoulder third-person shooter mechanics. In keeping with the game's premise of tracking down and eliminating the usually heroic members of the Justice League, players will battle brainwashed versions of Superman and The Flash in Kill The Justice League, with hints pointing to Wonder Woman and even Batman showing up as enemies as the hunt for Earth's most powerful superheroes goes on. Unfortunately, it seems like fans will have to wait a while longer than initially thought before they can take on these legendary figures in Kill The Justice League.

Rocksteady co-founder and creative director Sefton Hill has announced that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has been delayed until Spring 2023 on his Twitter page earlier this morning, March 23. He states that the decision to do this was “difficult,” but his team found it necessary to make sure that it produces the best game it possibly can. Hill ends his message by emphasizing with fans frustrated with the delay, and says that he looks forward to “bringing the chaos” to Metropolis when Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League does come out.

Previous reports on the game suggested that Kill The Justice League had been delayed from its previously planned 2022 release to allow for more polish, but Sefton Hill's latest statement has officially confirmed that the highly-anticipated title won't be released this year. These delays have had fans wondering if the WB Montreal-developed Gotham Knights would be held back as well, but WB Games has assured fans that both it and Hogwarts Legacy will indeed be released later this year as planned. Sure enough, Gotham Knights was just confirmed for release in October.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League looks to provide an interesting spin on the superhero gaming genre by having players execute Earth’s greatest heroes as the renegades of Task Force X, so news of this latest delay might come as a disappointment to those looking forward to Rocksteady’s next big comic-based title. However, at least these fans can take comfort in knowing that Rocksteady plans on using this extra time to make sure that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is a dark superhero adventure players will never forget when it finally launches sometime next year.
