Rocksteady Studios are making a long-awaited return to the Batman: Arkham franchise with the spin-off Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. As a result, there are some things from the Arkham games that fans would like to get some answers to now that so many years have passed.

While the four games all told stories that are now so beloved that even newer films such as Matt Reeves' The Batman took some inspiration, there were some plots left unfinished. Even though Batman: Arkham Knight was supposed to be the finale, it left several questions unanswered.

Where Are The Missing Villains?

All four of the Arkham games introduced a plethora of villains to interact with or fight, but there were many more confirmed to be in the canon. Both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham Knight confirmed the existence of Arthur Wesker and Peyton Riley, who are two versions of the Ventriloquist.

Maxie Zeus, Prometheus, Ratcatcher, and the Great White Shark were all confirmed to exist but never got a chance to appear; some of these characters even had content that was cut from the Arkham games. With Batman gone and Brainiac causing mass chaos, it would be interesting to see some of these villains.

Did Mr. Freeze Die With Nora?

Victor Fries AKA Mr. Freeze and Nora Fries leaving Gotham City in Batman Arkham Knight

The seemingly final chapter for Mr. Freeze in Arkham Knight leaves things on a very ambiguous note. Nora Fries is finally freed from her cryosleep and she makes Victor agree to let her live her final days as their ship leaves Gotham.

It seems like it is the end for the two but it's not 100% confirmed. Perhaps Nora was able to finally rest in peace but what happens to Mr. Freeze? Did he somehow die as well or did he choose to seclude himself in the arctic? Or did Freeze turn around and become more of an anti-hero, similar to his arc in Batman Beyond?

Did Batman Ever Encounter Shiva Again?

Batman confronting Lady Shiva in Batman Arkham Origins

With one of the more underutilized Batman Arkham villains, Batman has one fight with Shiva in Batman: Arkham Origins, and she claims that this is not the end. She then disappears to never be seen again for the rest of the game. It's clear that she works for the League Of Assassins but she's never mentioned by the League in any of the other Arkham games.

With Shiva being one of the DC universe's greatest fighters, it's surprising that she never returned in Arkham Knight. Perhaps Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League can remedy this by bringing back Shiva as a member of the Squad or in a side quest that's a bit more fleshed out.

Is Deathstroke Part Of The Suicide Squad?

Deathstroke aboard the Final Offer in Batman Arkham Origins

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League won't be the first time Task Force X has appeared in the Arkhamverse. In the post-credit scene for Arkham Origins, Amanda Waller appears before Deathstroke in his cell and offers him a chance to join the Suicide Squad.

Deathstroke never mentions these events in Arkham Knight and he is nowhere to be seen in any of the trailers for Kill The Justice League. So, it raises the question: will Deathstroke will be in the game at all as a playable character, NPC, or returning as a boss fight?

What Happened To Francine Langstrom?

Francine and Kirk Langstrom in Batman Arkham

The events of Arkham Knight featuring Man-Bat will leave the player suspecting that Francine Langstrom died when she was attacked by her husband post-transformation. It turns out that might not be the case, because if the player returns to the game on October 31st, Man-Bat breaks out of his containment; continuing to be one of the scariest Arkham Knight villains.

Returning to Kirk Langstrom's lab will reveal that Francine's body is gone and the words "Forever my love" can be seen, written in blood. Did Man-Bat simply take the body or did she too transform into She-Bat? This could be the perfect opportunity to make either Kirk or Francine into a member of the Suicide Squad.

Where Was Any Of The League During Scarecrow's Attack?

It was already a bit of an issue when heroes such as Superman, The Flash, and Green Arrow were confirmed to exist in the Arkhamverse. Now that the Justice League is confirmed to exist with Kill The Justice League, it raises a logical issue. Where were any other superheroes during the events of Arkham Knight?

Batman is a bit territorial, but he still could have used some help, especially when all of Gotham became filled with a cloud of fear toxin. Superman and the Flash didn't think to pop over to Gotham to make sure if Batman could handle it or not? This is only one of many questions that were raised by the reveal of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

Was Wayne Industries Affected By Knightfall?

Batman might have spared Nightwing, Barbara, and Robin from being exposed by activating Knightfall protocol, but what about Lucius Fox? It won't take a genius to realize that it was Wayne Industries providing Batman with all of his technically illegal technology and weaponry.

Wayne Industries could be held responsible for all kinds of destruction that were brought on by Batman and his villains. As a result, Lucius Fox will likely become a target for people like Amanda Waller, other government officials, and even villains who want that tech for themselves.

Did Azrael Defeat The Order Of St. Dumas?

Azrael kneeling with his sword in Batman: Arkham Knight

The Arkham games have trouble with leaving story threads open-ended. For example, if the player chooses the good ending for Azrael, he breaks free from the control of the Order Of St. Dumas. He then heads off, ready to fight the Order on his own and that's where that storyline ends.

A secret organization of elites trying to take over Gotham City through means such as Azrael? It seems like that storyline could have been its own game. Instead, nothing is resolved and while it likely would be reduced to a side-mission, it would still be nice to know how Azrael fared against the Order Of St. Dumas.

Is Ra's Al Ghul Alive?

Ra's Al Ghul on his throne on life support in Batman: Arkham Knight

With the ending of Batman: Arkham City, the death of Ra's Al Ghul seems definite. However, that ending was reversed through some of the series' best DLC in Arkham Knight which confirms that Ra's is still alive. Both endings that the player can choose result in Ra's living either in a cell or escaping into the world.

Either way, it's another example of the Arkham games leaving a lot of things open for what was supposed to be a finale. If it's the good ending that's canon, did Ra's die in prison as intended, or did his loyalists break him out?

Who Was That Mysterious Figure?

It is true that the entire point of the Knightfall Protocol ending is that it's left to be ambiguous. Fans weren't supposed to know who that shadowy vigilante was that saved the people at the end of Arkham Knight. However, that only worked because Arkham Knight was originally supposed to be the final game.

Now that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is continuing the Arkhamverse and fans have been speculating the ending for years now, perhaps it is time for some closure. Is it one of the Bat-Family taking over as Batman? Is it an entirely new vigilante? Is it Bruce Wayne under a scarier moniker? Only the creative minds over at Rocksteady know the answer.
