The teaser trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has fans of both DC and video games clamoring. Rocksteady Studios is behind the game and they've officially announced that it is set with the Batman: Arkham universe. This begs one important question: Since the last time gamers saw Harley Quinn in Batman: Arkham Knight, what happened to her, and how did she make it onto the Suicide Squad?

At the end of Batman: Arkham Knight, Quinn had given up all hope. After losing her longtime lover, the villainous Joker, in Batman: Arkham City, Quinn returned in Batman: Arkham Knight with the goal of killing Batman and honoring her homicidal lover's memory. Unfortunately for her, that didn't exactly work out as planned. When players last saw Harley Quinn at the end of Batman: Arkham Knight, Batman had defeated her and locked her up for good.

Piecing together what came next for Harley Quinn can be difficult, but it is far from impossible. Looking back on the various games of the franchise, as well as comic book lore, one can find a series of hints that lead to the revelation of what happened to her, and how she ended up where she is in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's reveal trailer.

Before SSKTJL, Harley Likely Found Her Identity in Prison

Without any hope of honoring the Joker's legacy, Quinn likely had to carve out a new identity for herself. Much like in the comics, Quinn slowly learned to be her own woman, up until the point that players see her in the teaser trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. With the majority of Batman's villains either dead or locked up, Quinn was likely then stuck behind bars for some time. That is, until Amanda Waller showed up.

Before SSKTJL, Harley Was Approached By Amanda Waller

It was likely then, while Harley Quinn was in prison, that Amanda Waller approached her. Fans were given a similar scene after the end of Batman: Arkham Origins. Deathstroke, having been beaten by Batman during the game, is seen working out in his cell when Waller shows up offering him a job. Quinn most likely got the exact same treatment, and that led to where she was during the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League teaser.

It's pretty easy to piece together these clues from the Arkham series if players want to know what almost undoubtedly happened to Harley Quinn since they last saw her in Arkham Knight. That being said, knowing what happened in that time doesn't come close to the level of excitement gamers will have finding out what happens next as they play Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Hopefully, the wait for Rocksteady's next game will go by quickly.
