As more fans discuss the director's cut of Suicide Squad, David Ayer has revealed details about the scene between Joker (Jared Leto) and Monster T (Common). Suicide Squad brought together several of DC's biggest villains, including Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and Captain Boomerang. Though the movie boasted an all-star cast with Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Viola Davis, and others, it debuted in 2016 to mixed reviews. However, in the time since its release, Ayer has made it clear the finished product differs from his intended vision, leading some to hope for a release of the Ayer Cut.

For his part, Ayer has revealed details about cuts made to his film rather slowly. In fact, he originally insisted the released movie was his cut. However, in 2018 Ayer admitted the "released film was very different from original assembly." The Joker seems to be one of the characters hardest hit by the changes made before Suicide Squad's release. Ayer revealed a subplot involving Joker and Enchantress that never made the final film. The director elaborated further this month, saying "most" of Leto's work as Joker "remains unseen."

Recently, Ayer again discussed Joker's role in Suicide Squad, revealing a moment cut from the final version. In the movie, Common appears briefly as Monster T, a take on the Tattooed Man from the comics. He makes his attraction to Harley Quinn known, which Joker doesn't like. After some uncomfortable moments, Joker shoots Monster T in the head out of jealousy. However, Ayer has now revealed it was originally a "long scene" involving an even darker death for Monster T, in which "Joker intimidated him into killing himself."

It makes sense fans are asking more questions about the possible Suicide Squad director's cut, considering the events of this week. After years of speculation and support from fans, Zack Snyder announced his cut of Justice League will finally be released. Though the Ayer cut of Suicide Squad hasn't received nearly the publicity the Snyder Cut has, there is still a section of DCEU fans hoping for its release, or at the very least, more information about scenes like this one. The Snyder Cut of Justice League is headed for HBO Max.

However, Ayer told fans earlier this week his movie is unlikely to receive the same treatment. In a tweet, he stated, "It is simply not my call or my IP...My cut of Suicide Squad may always be just a rumor." Though, fans have to be thinking that only a few short years ago, the Snyder Cut was only a rumor as well, only for it to eventually turn into a fully realized project. It would be a long, likely unsuccessful journey for Ayer and fans, but that doesn't mean the director's cut of Suicide Squad will never see the light of day.
