The first explosive poster for The Suicide Squad features the entire Task Force X lineup in a movie that looks too insane to be real. As director James Gunn moves to the DC Extended Universe, he is taking over a franchise that had a mixed reception upon its launch. 2016's Suicide Squad originally teased a dark and gritty anti-hero story but was reshot and re-edited to become something different. Even though Suicide Squad made almost $750 million worldwide, Gunn is reshaping the scope and tone for his installment.

Although details on The Suicide Squad were rather light before, the arrival of DC FanDome has completely changed that. Gunn brought the majority of the film's cast to the virtual convention to promote the blockbuster movie prior to its 2021 release. The full lineup of characters was announced, the first look at their costumes was released, and a behind-the-scenes video provided the first footage of The Suicide Squad. But now, even more marketing for the movie has arrived.

Thanks to The Suicide Squad's panel at DC FanDome, James Gunn shared a variety of new looks at the movie. But, once the panel ended, Gunn took to Twitter to release one more surprise. He shared the first poster for The Suicide Squad following the panel, as well as an alternate version with a few small differences. While the panel was premiering, he also released stylized character posters for each cast member too. All of the new marketing materials can be seen below:

With these new pieces of marketing for The Suicide Squad, the huge ensemble remains a key part of how the film is being sold. Idris Elba's Bloodsport, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, and John Cena's Peacemaker are at the forefront of the main posters, which isn't too surprising as they're expected to be some of the film's main characters. Bloodsport and Harley also make up two of the differences between the main and alternate posters, as Elba's face is concealed with Bloodsport's helmet and Harley wears a dress in that version. Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior) is the only other change, as she gets a mask of her own in the alternate poster.

All in all, the rush of content for The Suicide Squad is quite exciting. Gunn repeatedly hyped during the panel that he's never had more fun making a movie and that this is the biggest film he's made so far. The latter is abundantly clear based on the posters too, as the seventeen person ensemble for Task Force X flees from a giant explosion and multiple helicopters. Clear, The Suicide Squad is going bigger than Suicide Squad and so far it looks like it could be even better too.
