The Suicide Squad is currently rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. After James Gunn was temporarily fired from Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Warner Bros. was quick to bring the filmmaker onboard to helm a DC film. Gunn eventually chose to write and direct The Suicide Squad, a new take on Task Force X that's disconnected from David Ayer's 2016 movie. While there are some returning characters from the original film, The Suicide Squad is billed as a standalone entity, accessible to anyone regardless if they've seen Suicide Squad.

One of the reasons why WB was so keen to bring Gunn into the DC universe is because through the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Gunn cemented himself as a creative voice who can craft unique comic book adaptations. After he made the Guardians household names in the MCU, the hope was he'd be able to revitalize the Suicide Squad for DC. Early The Suicide Squad reviews have praised Gunn's latest as a hilarious and violent ride, and so far that acclaim is unanimous.

On Twitter, Rotten Tomatoes unveiled the Tomatometer score for The Suicide Squad. After 43 reviews, the film had a perfect 100% score. As of this writing, there are 46 reviews counted and the 100% rating is still intact. Check out the tweet below:

Gunn's take on the villain team-up is already much more well-received than its predecessor. 2016's Suicide Squad was widely panned by critics and has a 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Of course, Ayer's Suicide Squad was subject to heavy studio interference, something Gunn didn't have to deal with while he was developing his project. Gunn has commented he basically had free rein on The Suicide Squad, and the final product appears to be the director's bold vision come to life. Many reviewers have commented on The Suicide Squad's mix of humor, heart, and action - which are all hallmarks of Gunn's style. It's for these reasons The Suicide Squad is as acclaimed as it is. The Suicide Squad's score is in-line with Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy movies, both of which were Certified Fresh.

It is worth mentioning this was just the initial wave of The Suicide Squad reviews, and there are still many more that will come in. Big studio blockbusters typically see hundreds of reviews. The first Suicide Squad has 386 reviews, so there will be plenty of other takes on The Suicide Squad releasing over the next week ahead of the movie's premiere. That means it's unlikely to hold on to its perfect score in the longterm, but this is just the kind of buzz WB was looking for when they hired Gunn. The Suicide Squad should go down as one of the best-reviewed DC movies in recent memory.
