Warner Bros' The Suicide Squad director James Gunn confirms the full cast for his upcoming sequel, but warns that not all will survive. Gunn joined the project last year after he was fired from Disney and Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Though he's since been rehired on that project, first he'll direct The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC Films. The Suicide Squad will start filming later this month, reportedly in Atlanta, Georgia, before moving to Panama.

The movie will be a quasi-followup to David Ayer's 2016 Suicide Squad. Though it's not being labeled a straight sequel or reboot, Gunn's film will bring back certain key characters while introducing new villains and anti-heroes to the mix. Casting reports have been circulating for some time now, especially in terms of which characters will be returning, but very little was confirmed. While it was expected that certain key players like Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn would be back, Gunn has now confirmed the full cast list.

On Twitter, Gunn posted a graphic that lists 24 actors who will be part of The Suicide Squad cast, but it doesn't specify what roles each person will play. The image also features a new Suicide Squad logo, though it's unclear if that's official for the movie or simply pulled from the comics. The full cast includes: David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie and Michael Rooker. See Gunn's tweet below.

Some of these names are returning actors, including Robbie who will reprise her role of Harley Quinn, Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Davis as Amanda Waller. As for the others, Elba was originally cast to replace Will Smith as Deadshot, but then filmmakers moved him to a different role in order to keep the door open for Smith to return in the future. Reid will play the daughter of Ilba's character. No other roles are confirmed, though it's been reported Agee may play King Shark. It's likely not all these cast members will play DC comics characters, and instead will portray new roles written specifically for The Suicide Squad.

With that said, though, there have been some rumors and reports about which DC characters are joining Gunn's film. Bronze Tiger, Polka-Dot Man, Peacemaker and Ratcatcher have all been rumored or reportedly involved in the film along with King Shark. But while Gunn's cast list confirms which actors are involved in the movie, it offers little insight into who they may be playing. Fans may have to wait for set photos, an official team image or further confirmation from Gunn to learn which DC characters are in The Suicide Squad. Thankfully with the movie's production getting underway this month, it may not be long until we find out which role each cast member is playing in The Suicide Squad.
