In James Gunn's sequel, Task Force X is bigger, much bigger. There are fifteen members confirmed so far for The Suicide Squad. From the beginning of marketing, James Gunn and Warner Bros. have been upfront about characters dying. Even the tagline of the film is "They're dying to save the world."

So that means that some of these wacky and obscure comic book villains are there to be fodder. After all, their big threat is that of Starro, a villain that is a threat to even the Justice League. At the same time, it's pretty clear some members are going to be sticking around.

Very High Chance: Weasel

Weasel The Suicide Squad (1)

One look at the character and it's obvious that Weasel is not going to be saving any world. Played by Sean Gunn, Weasel is likely going to be one of several strange additions that will be killed within the first third. Even in the comics, Weasel was a joke of a villain.

Very High Chance: Javelin

Javelin holding his namesake in The Suicide Squad

Another joke villain, Javelin was an antagonist for Green Lantern in the early days of the comics. It shows how effective he was when hardly anybody remembers him. Likely, Flula Borg's Javelin will provide a few solid jokes but he'll probably be one of the first to bite the bullet. This is most evident as Javelin was shown to have only a few seconds of screentime in both trailers.

Very High Chance: Blackguard

Blackguard in The Suicide Squad, cocking his head to the side

This is an interesting case because Blackguard is played by Pete Davidson who has been a standout on Saturday Night Live; he also garnered praise for his role in The King Of Staten Island. So, there is a chance that Blackguard could have a bigger role than expected.

However, if the trailers have suggested anything, he is another to die in the squad's first big action scene. On the other hand, Blackguard could be a perfect candidate to become one of Starro's slaves.

High Chance: Mongal

Mongal joining The Suicide Squad - The Suicide Squad

The daughter of Mongul, one of Superman's most powerful enemies. It is strange to see Mongal as part of the Suicide Squad but she is no stranger to death. In the comics, she is killed by her own brother since he considered family a weakness.

As for the movie, she could last longer than others due to her powerful alien physiology. She is still unlikely to make it to the third act alive. Or, she could be another slave for Starro to control.

High Chance: TDK

TDK’s arms detach on Corto Maltese in The Suicide Squad

Nathan Fillion's character has the ability to detach his arms and control them telekinetically. It's essentially a newer version of Arm Fall Off Boy, a character infamous for the most useless power. So, it's likely that TDK won't survive for very long.

However, the casting of Nathan Fillion could hint at TDK being a surprise survivor. Perhaps not survive the whole movie but at least provide a standout action scene before his unfortunate demise.

Medium Chance: Savant

Michael Rooker's Savant in The Suicide Squad

This character is a bit of a mystery as the first trailer suggests that a portion of the film will be from his perspective. This is no surprise since Michael Rooker and James Gunn are long-time friends who have worked together since Slither in 2006. Rooker was also a fan-favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Yondu.

The vigilante character Savant seems like he could have a higher chance than others but likely won't be in the last act. If he is, he is probably another slave for Starro.

Medium Chance: The Thinker

The Thinker listening to Task Force X in The Suicide Squad

Both trailers suggest that The Thinker plays an important part in the story. He seems to be part of the Suicide Squad when they are marching out of the waterfall. This is likely in the third act but does he survive the entire film?

It is possible that Thinker is needed to get/create a plot device that can stop Starro. On the other hand, Thinker could also be the secondary villain that helps Starro get to full strength.

Medium Chance: Captain Boomerang

Jai Courtney As Captain Boomerang in The Suicide Squad

This one is a coin flip since he is a returning character from David Ayer's Suicide Squad. Being a legacy character, there is a high chance that he survive the film. Maybe becomes a slave to Starro who becomes a threat for the squad with his deadly boomerangs.

However, the trailers showed Boomerang for only a brief moment. This has some fans worried since Captain Boomerang has been a recurring member of the Suicide Squad since John Ostrander created the comics. Killing him off would likely result in some backlash.

Low Chance: Polka-Dot Man

Polka-Dot Man using his powers in The Suicide Squad

With a character as wacky and bizarre as Polka-Dot Man, one would expect him to be the first to die. Surprisingly, the trailers seem to suggest that he is there until the final act. Some are predicting that he will be akin to El Diablo from the first movie: the secret weapon who is surprisingly awesome.

Whether he survives the battle against Starro or not is another story. So far, it would seem that David Dastmalchian's Polka-Dot Man has a better chance than most. Even if the character himself seems to want to die.

Low Chance: Ratcatcher II

Ratcatcher commanding an army of rats in The Suicide Squad

So far, the trailers hint that Ratcatcher II is less of a psychotic Batman villain and more of a tragic character. The trailers suggest that she will play a surprisingly large part of the story and use her control over rats for some memorable scenes. The question is, will she survive?

It is possible, she does appear to be with the remaining squad members in that waterfall shot. However, Ratcatcher could also sacrifice herself to stop Starro, much like El Diablo did in the first film.

Slim Chance: King Shark

King Shark pointing out his hand is a hand in The Suicide Squad

James Gunn has made it very clear that he wants audiences to fall in love with King Shark. Both trailers showcase how much of a lovable goofball he is but also that he will be one of the deadliest members of the Suicide Squad. On top of all that, Sylvester Stallone looks to be giving a performance everyone will remember.

King Shark also appears to be fighting alongside others in the big final act. So it's more likely he will survive alongside a few others. Plus, killing off King Shark after making him so lovable would result in fans upset.

Slim Chance: Rick Flag

Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag in The Suicide Squad

Another returning member from the first film: Rick Flag is the straight man that keeps the Suicide Squad from killing each other. With Joel Kinnaman seemingly given an even bigger chance to shine as the lead, it's unlikely that he will die. Especially since Rick Flag is typically their leader in many comics.

In the trailers, Flag does not appear to be in the final battle. This does hint that he could die but that could also be that Rick Flag is off doing something else, helping via a different objective while the Squad fight head-on.

Slim Chance: Bloodsport

Bloodsport firing his blaster in The Suicide Squad

With Idris Elba cast in the role, it's very unlikely that he will be killed off. Besides Rick Flag, Bloodsport appears to be the leader of the team that keeps them in line. Bloodsport also looks to be a standout character with many unique weapons to make his action scenes memorable.

Since this Bloodsport seems a bit more honorable, one could see him surviving the battle against Starro. On the other hand, Bloodsport could also sacrifice himself to save the world as a last-second shock for the audience but those chances are pretty low.

Slim Chance: Peacemaker

John Cena's Peacemaker talking to Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad

Many are going to wish this character would die but it would seem Peacemaker survives through most of the film. Sure, he's likely going to have great action scenes with John Cena providing a memorable performance. That being said, Peacemaker is a downright evil soldier who will kill innocents to complete his mission.

So, why should he live? James Gunn is developing a Peacemaker spin-off for HBO Max starring Cena. That pretty much guarantees that he will survive the battle against Starro. The only way audiences could see him die is if the Peacemaker spin-off acts as a prequel to The Suicide Squad.

No Chance: Harley Quinn

Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad

No shocker here as this will be Margot Robbie's third time playing Harley Quinn. She has become as much of an icon as Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Warner Bros. is obviously going to want Harley alive for future sequels and other DCEU-related projects.

In the trailers, she seems to be right in the middle of the final battle against Starro. Harley does appear to take a lot of damage throughout The Suicide Squad but her chances of death are zero percent.
