Following the release of the trailer for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, the DCEU film is already foreshadowing the redesigned villainous King Shark's worst deed from the comics. From Swamp Thing, Gorilla Grodd, Solovar, to Man-Bat, Killer Croc, and King Shark, DC has a phenomenal canon of monsters to play with from various mythologies. King Shark is one who has garnered some media attention primarily through the Arrowverse on the TV series The Flash. King Shark made appearances as a villain on the show every once in a while, including in The Flash season 5, episode 15, where he and Gorilla Grodd had their big monster showdown.

Seeing King Shark on network television was a surprise, as he is a VFX-demanding character. While The CW's DC TV franchise became the platform to feature King Shark in live-action, the humanoid shark is about to make his jump to the DCEU. Gunn is bringing the character to life in The Suicide Squad, with Sylvester Stallone voicing him and Steve Agee doing the physical work through motion capture. This will mark King Shark's cinematic debut, as he has otherwise only been in animated films, and he's in for a welcome redesign in The Suicide Squad. The trailers for The Suicide Squad have already shown how grotesque King Shark can be, beyond the fact that he is a fish-human hybrid walking and wearing pants.

Throughout the footage released so far, King Shark is seen devouring more than one person either on or associated with the Suicide Squad. While it's perhaps only expected for a man-shark-being to do so, it is actually a big nod to the comics, specifically with King Shark's time on Task Force X. In one of the Suicide Squad runs, there was a member of the force named Chang Jie-Ru, a.k.a. Yo-Yo, who had elastic super-powers, allowing his body to survive most things. However, despite their being teammates, King Shark actually ate Yo-Yo, who ends up stuck in the beast's digestive system.

King Shark eats a human in The Suicide Squad

While Yo-Yo does manage to get out of King Shark's stomach eventually, King Shark clearly has a tendency to devour his own squad members. Through The Suicide Squad trailers, King Shark has been seen swallowing an entire person and also ripping an individual into two halves. His propensity for flesh-eating and destruction makes him a massive wild card among all the other Suicide Squad members. The trailer footage seems to depict King Shark's chewing moments in a comedic light, though it makes for a gruesome visual as well.

Whether or not The Suicide Squad will have King Shark eat more people on his team remains to be seen. It wouldn't be shocking if King Shark actually does consume one of the more prominent members of the film before the end of The Suicide Squad. One possibility is that perhaps someone on the team decides to go rogue, and the only way to stop them is for King Shark to swallow them whole. With that in mind, King Shark could have probably done that to Ralph Dibny, a.k.a. the Elongated Man, on The Flash, whose powers are similar to Yo-Yo's, and it would have likely been one of the most visually grotesque moments in the whole Arrowverse. Only time will tell just how far The Suicide Squad will go with King Shark's ravenous appetite and just how many people he will have eaten by the movie's conclusion.
