The Suicide Squad director James Gunn shows his support for new fan art of King Shark. The DCEU's latest attempt at taking on the Suicide Squad promises to be a different affair than the 2016 film that was directed by David Ayer. Gunn was brought on to write and direct The Suicide Squad, which will introduce an all new Task Force X to take on some new threat. Returning players from the first installment include Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).

Last month, The Suicide Squad's lengthy character list was finally unveiled after months of speculation, and it confirmed that comedian Steve Agee will be stepping into the role of King Shark. The DC Comics supervillain has appeared in television shows like Harley Quinn and The Flash, but this will mark the first time King Shark will get his due on the big screen. Even before King Shark's involvement with The Suicide Squad was announced, Gunn teased his appearance several times.

All that hype has led to genuine excitement about King Shark's cinematic debut among fans, and to help tide them over until The Suicide Squad's August 2021 premiere, they've created fan art for the character. This latest piece from BossLogic is a simple, adorable picture, and it's captured the attention of Gunn himself, who called the piece "Awesome." You can check it out down below.

To general audiences, King Shark might not seem like a conventional choice for a big blockbuster movie like The Suicide Squad. However, if anyone can do King Shark justice and get viewers invested in him, it's Gunn. He's best known for directing the Guardians of the Galaxy films for Marvel, which of course features odd characters like Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel). King Shark will just be the newest addition to Gunn's trove of colorful comic book characters, and it'll be thrilling to see what Gunn does with him.

The Suicide Squad might have finally revealed its characters, but much of the film still remains a mystery. Gunn has kept the plot details under lock and key, and it isn't even clear who the main villain will be. Nevertheless, there's a lot of anticipation surrounding The Suicide Squad, both thanks to Gunn's previous work and the positive words shared by various cast members. Behind the scenes footage was shared last month at DC FanDome, but fans are especially eager to get their first glimpses at an official trailer. Perhaps when that comes around, it'll also feature a new peek at Agee's King Shark.
