Decades after turning down the role of Superman, Sylvester Stallone is finally joining the DC Multiverse with James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Ignoring the incredibly lazy title for a sequel, The Suicide Squad seems like it's going to be a crazy fun-time with plenty of wacky yet awesome characters.

An already impressive cast was revealed with Margot Robbie returning as Harley, Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, and John Cena. However, Sylvester Stallone surprised everyone with his announcement that he is playing a mystery character in The Suicide Squad. Obviously, fans are abuzz as to who the legendary action star will be playing. Hero or villain?

Hero: Wildcat

Who is Wildcat exactly? Well, he is the man who trained Dinah Lance AKA Black Canary how to fight. Ted Grant was one of the best boxers in the world until a ploy to assassinate him forced him to become a vigilante. After being mistaken for Green Lantern, he created a distinct look for the Wildcat moniker.

For obvious reasons, Sylvester Stallone would be the ideal choice to play a retired boxer turned vigilante. Stallone turned the character of Rocky Balboa into an icon. With James Gunn aiming for a lot of C-list characters for The Suicide Squad, Wildcat fits within that category.

Villain: King Shark

When the cast for The Suicide Squad was revealed, it was said that Steve Agee plays King Shark. However, Agee himself specifically says that he brings the motion capture performance. Why would he say this? Well, this could be a hint that King Shark will have another actor for the voice.

Since Stallone had not been spotted in the numerous set photos, it means one of two things. Either they did a good job hiding Stallone or he's only providing the voice for a character. With the deep and gravely voice of Stallone's, he could easily pull off a character like King Shark.

Hero: Red Tornado

A stranger villain that could be introduced is Professor Morrow who builds a weaponized android known as Red Tornado. Red Tornado begins as a villain designed to infiltrate and eliminate superhero sects until he defies his creator.

As a surprise final fight for Task Force X, Red Tornado would make for a challenge while setting him up to maybe join the Justice League. In this case, Sylvester Stallone could be the voice or the physical performance of the character. Most of Red Tornado would likely be CGI.

Villain: Gorilla Grodd

James Gunn has been very secretive about the movie. It took forever just to get one look at the cast. Who knows what other surprises he has hidden up his sleeves. The Suicide Squad seemingly takes place all over the Earth and the Flash is a canon character, so why not Grodd?

Gorilla Grodd is a hyper-intelligent gorilla with psychic abilities who wants to conquer the world. This fits both as a voice-over role for Stallone and matches Gunn's fascination with the stranger DC characters. It would make for quite the surprise villain.

Hero: Blackhawk

Blackhawk - DC Comics

Well technically there isn't just one Blackhawk, they are a squad of fighter pilots. One Blackhawk was introduced in Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman with Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer. The Blackhawks are pilots from all over the globe working together to fight injustice.

An ace pilot who works outside the law? A perfect asset for Amanda Waller to use in Task Force X. Even if it's for a brief cameo, having Stallone play a Blackhawk would be a great way to set up their own movie. Steven Spielberg originally planned a Blackhawk movie but it was seemingly canceled.

Villain: Clayface

Clayface - DC Comics

Once again, this would allow Stallone to be hidden as a voice actor. How Amanda Waller would threaten a shapeshifting blob-like Clayface is the only question. Still, fans have been wanting to see Clayface in live-action since his rise to popularity in Batman: The Animated Series.

Clayface was an actor who used experimental cream to hide his disfigurement. Too much of it transformed him into Clayface. Not only does he have great powers and visuals but he could make for an entertaining performance. It would be another addition to Ben Affleck's Batman world.

Hero: The Question

The Question in a dark alleyway in DC Comics

The Question is essentially a less violence-prone version of Rorschach from Watchmen. With a mask that makes him look like he has no face, The Question chases after conspiracies. Amanda Waller would be towards the top of his targets list.

Unfortunately, Amanda Waller is just as prepared as Batman. Waller would instantly snatch up the Question and make him a member of The Suicide Squad. It would be odd to see Stallone without a face but it would definitely be a different role for him. The only problem is that nobody resembling The Question was spotted on set photos.

Villain: Sportsmaster

Sportsmaster - Young Justice

Imagine if Casey Jones from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a murderous mercenary. Sportsmaster is a criminal who uses weaponized sports equipment to commit his illegal actions. Yeah, from that description alone, he fits within James Gunn's world.

Sportsmaster being added to the DCEU could also act as a springboard for more characters. He is the father of Artemis Crock who becomes the new Tigress. Rarely does Stallone get to show his range and play a villain; so Sportsmaster would be a unique role for his filmography.

Hero: Rick Flag Sr.

Rick Flag Sr. from DC Comics

Joel Kinnaman plays Rick Flag, the leader of the Suicide Squad. Little do most people know that Rick Flag is actually Rick Flag Jr. with his father being the original. In the comics, Rick Flag Sr. led a team called the Suicide Squadron during World War II.

With a modern version, they would probably have to change it from World War II to maybe the Vietnam War. Who better than Rambo himself to play a Vietnam War veteran? Plus the banter between father and son would be hilarious with the two charismatic actors.

Villain: Starro The Conqueror

Blurry set photos for The Suicide Squad hint at the main villain of the movie being Starro The Conqueror. What is Starro? A giant alien starfish who conquers worlds by attaching smaller parasites onto the faces of inhabitants. Starro was actually the first big threat that needed the Justice League to unite to defeat.

The Suicide Squad might feature more of Starro's voice and that's where Stallone comes in. Starro could provide a creepy voice that taunts the Squad and speaks through his mind-controlled victims. It's not unlikely seeing how Julie Andrews voiced the Kraken in James Wan's Aquaman.
