The Suicide Squad star Flula Borg praised the DC film's writer-director James Gunn for his exceptional ability to introduce characters. Borg is a German-born performer who broke into the film world after going viral on YouTube with original comedic songs and skits. After roles in major movies like Pitch Perfect 2, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip and Trolls World Tour, the actor is set to play Javelin in Gunn's highly-anticipated Suicide Squad follow up.

Gunn (the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise) has become famous for taking obscure comic book characters like Javelin and ushering them into the spotlight. Despite David Ayer's Suicide Squad eliciting mixed reactions amongst fans and critics alike, the DC FanDome seems delighted to have Gunn helming the semi-sequel. Serving as both writer and director, the filmmaker had complete creative control over The Suicide Squad, and it seems his entire cast supports his vision.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Borg commended Gunn's array of talents. Speaking to his writing, the actor said that Gunn particularly has a knack for character development. He told Screen Rant:

"I will tell you: James Gunn can write in one page and tell you almost everything you need to know about someone. He just knows it; he knows how to boil it down like a delicious chemist and just tell you exactly, 'This is your person. This is distilled. Now grow some stuff from it.' So, I just used his tasty fertilizer and just irrigated my brain, and then grew some things out of that. Thanks, James."

Borg gives Gunn all the credit for the version of Javelin that fans will see onscreen. In screenwriting, where every word counts, the ability to do what Borg says Gunn can do is no small feat. It's a necessary trait, particularly in superhero films with a large ensemble of characters to introduce. Borg certainly isn't the only cast member to commend Gunn's talents.

Jai Courtney, who returned to play Australian supervillain Captain Boomerang, calls Gunn an "evil genius" who pushes all the boundaries. Other stars like Idris Elba have publicly echoed the genius half of that comment, with Margot Robbie, John Cena, and Viola Davis all lauding the leader for his work. Even early screener reactions to the action film have confirmed that Gunn delivered The Suicide Squad fans deserve.

While making and watching a movie are two different experiences, an incredible production journey is generally a strong indicator that the final product is something to see. Plus, the A-list talent featured in the film would be doing the bare minimum of the press as stipulated in their contracts. They wouldn't be going all out in promoting the movie if they didn't believe in it. All signs point to The Suicide Squad being one of the best DC films ever made.
