Peacemaker and Bloodsport fight each other in Suicide Squad 2, says Idris Elba. John Cena plays Peacemaker, a vigilante bent on bringing peace to the world at any cost, in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad follow up. Elba meanwhile plays Bloodsport, a mercenary who begins the film in prison after shooting Superman with a Kryptonite bullet.

These of course are just two of the crazy anti-heroic characters set to be featured in The Suicide Squad. There’s also Harley Quinn, played once again by Margot Robbie (who is still very much alive, despite the fate Zack Snyder dreamed up for her in his Justice League cut). Also joining the craziest of squads on their latest suicidal movie mission are oddballs Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), King Shark (voiced by Sylvester Stallone), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), The Thinker (Peter Capaldi), Ratcatcher II (Daniel Melchior), Savant (Michael Rooker), Blackguard (Pete Davidson), T.D.K. (Nathan Fillion) and Weasel (Sean Gunn).

Not much has been revealed yet about what that crew of misfits gets up to in The Suicide Squad. Elba himself did just drop a tidbit however, telling EW that his character Bloodsport gets into it with one of the movie’s other Alpha males, Cena’s Peacemaker. Elba said, "There is a particular scene where my character and Peacemaker really battle it out. It becomes the biggest cinematic d---swinging competition you've ever seen."

It’s interesting that Elba should reveal the animosity between Bloodsport and Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad as those exact characters have had beef recently in the pages of DC comics. In Suicide Squad #5, Bloodsport goes on a multiverse recon mission for Amanda Waller and has occasion to voice his thoughts about his fellow Suicide Squad members, particularly Peacemaker whom he singles out for derision. This dynamic is of particular fascination because the two characters are actually quite similar, both being convicts who’ve been declared criminally insane. Of course, sometimes when two people realize their similarities, it makes them even more prone to dislike each other.

It remains to be seen how the antagonism between Bloodsport and Peacemaker ultimately plays out in The Suicide Squad. Obviously they come to blows, as Elba has indicated. But Elba doesn’t give away who wins or what happens after they finish fighting. It could be that duking it out ends up bringing the two characters closer together. It’s probably not a surprise either way that Peacemaker ends up antagonizing his fellow Suicide Squad members, as the character’s been described as a “bro-ey douchebag” by Cena himself. Peacemaker no doubt rubs a lot of people the wrong way with his vigilante ways, and for his part Bloodsport certainly seems like the kind of person who doesn’t back down from anyone (he does shoot Superman after all). Suicide Squad 2 figures to include plenty of complicated and perhaps even violent character dynamics as Guardians of the Galaxy director Gunn throws his latest gang of misfits together and sees what chaos might ensue.
