Warning: spoilers ahead for Succession season 4, episode 1Succession season 4, episode 1 is out now and features some big moves being made by the major players in the series. The premiere episode follows up on Succession season 3's huge cliffhanger ending, with the fallout from Tom's betrayal significantly impacting the final season.

Succession season 4, episode 1, "The Munsters," takes place sometime after the explosive season 3 ending, mainly focusing on a party at Logan Roy's home and a bidding war. The main story of the premiere follows the Roy siblings' attempt to outbid Logan's acquisition offer for PGM, with the siblings making an offer of $10 billion before the bidding is closed. Meanwhile, Logan is becoming more miserable, Shiv and Tom are working through their marital issues, and Connor is attempting to hold onto his one percent in the presidential election, with all of these storylines sure to play a part in the future of Succession season 4.

7 Roman Roy

At the bottom of the power ranking is Roman Roy, the middle child of the three main Roy siblings. While Roman did seem to be ahead of his siblings in season 3, things have gone downhill for him, with his accidental nude and his betrayal of Logan messing up his position at Waystar Royco. Roman is currently working alongside his siblings in an attempt to beat their father, but unlike Kendall and Shiv, Roman is a lot more hesitant. Roman isn't as willing to outbid Logan for PGM, and his immaturity and inexperience may hinder him from having as much sway as the rest of Succession season 4's cast.

Things could change for Roman in the future, though. The Succession season 4 trailer shows Roman working alongside his father again, meaning that he may wedge his way back into the company again in a future episode. Currently, though, Roman doesn't have nearly as much power as season 4's other major players.

6 Greg Hirsch

Greg Hirsch came out of Succession season 3 sitting pretty, but he has already messed things up in the season 4 premiere. Greg's power mainly comes from his connections, which he starts messing up. Greg not only had sex in Logan's house but also admitted it to Logan, clearly upsetting him. Greg also insulted Logan, further straining his relationship with the Waystar Royco CEO. While Greg still has a strong connection to Tom, his chances of being promoted by Logan are slim. However, he is still part of Waystar Royco, putting him ahead of some of Succession's other characters.

5 Kendall Roy

Kendall was at his lowest point after Succession season 3 but is slowly working his way back up the power rankings. Kendall is attempting to start a new media company called The Hundred. His outbidding of Logan in the PGM bidding war puts him in a position where he could realistically compete with Waystar Royco. Kendall is completely locked out of the company, which does hurt his sway, but he has shown that he can pull himself back up with his bootstraps. Aided by Roman and Shiv, Kendall has demonstrated that he can and will greatly impact Succession season 4.

The one thing holding Kendall back has been around since the beginning: his accidental season 1 murder. Kendall finally confessed about the killing to his siblings in Succession season 3's ending, which seemed to help his mental health significantly. However, Logan still knows about it, acting as a trump card that could take Kendall down at any point. On top of that, if Shiv or Roman ever decided to betray Kendall, they could also use this to their advantage. Sadly, with how Succession's characters act, this isn't too far from the realm of possibility.

4 Shiv Roy

Much like her two brothers, Shiv is locked out of Waystar Royco. However, she is also part of the founding of The Hundred and the PGM acquisition, giving her a similar power ranking to her siblings. However, Shiv has one thing that Kendall and Roman don't: Tom. Despite Tom's betrayal, he still cares for Shiv, seemingly even advocating for her to Logan in the season 4 premiere. Tom could be just what Shiv needs to get her foot back in the door of Waystar Royco, with her then using her superior business mind to take over the company.

3 Tom Wambsgans

Although not a Roy, Tom is one of the most powerful characters in Succession season 4. After tipping Logan off to the Roy siblings' plan in season 3, Tom has become one of Logan's most trusted advisors, with Tom even being trusted to handle the PGM negotiations. In addition, Tom has lots of sway over Waystar Royco, and there don't seem to be any imminent threats to his power. Tom is the head of Waystar Royco's ATN division, but he seems to have even more influence than his position suggests, putting him near the top of the power ranking after Succession season 4, episode 1.

2 Logan Roy

As the CEO of Waystar Royco, Logan Roy is undoubtedly the most powerful member of the Roy family going into Succession season 4. With his children locked out of the company, Logan still has a supermajority, meaning he can push through almost anything. On top of that, GoJo's acquisition of the company is about to go through, meaning that an already rich Logan Roy is about to get even richer. While the bidding war has caused Logan's power to waver slightly, he is still far more influential than any of his peers — except for one.

1 Nan Pierce

Nan Pierce returns for the first time since Succession season 2, and her role in episode 1 makes her more powerful than anyone else. The season 4 premiere almost entirely revolves around the PGM bidding war, and due to Nan Pierce being the head of PGM, she's in the driver's seat. Nan gets to decide who acquires the company, meaning she has the most influence after episode 1. Nan Pierce holds the keys to everything, with her genuinely being in control in Succession season 4, episode 1.
