A new Succession season 3 trailer reveals the first look at Adrien Brody and Alexander Skarsgard's new characters. Ever since HBO's hit dramedy aired its jaw-dropping season 2 finale nearly two years ago, its third installment has been highly anticipated. The hype was only ratcheted up when Succession took home Best Drama at the 2020 Emmy Awards, and the series found a new audience. Succession centers on the dysfunctional Roy family, who own the global media conglomerate known as Waystar RoyCo as they fight for control of the company amid uncertainty regarding the health of Logan Roy (Brian Cox), the company's CEO and family patriarch.

The series stars Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, and Sarah Snook as Logan's children, Kendall, Roman, and Shiv, respectively, who all work for the family company. Matthew Macfayden stars as Shiv's husband, Tom, and Nicholas Braun as Logan's grandnephew Greg, who are also employed by the company and make for an unwittingly hilarious duo. Succession season 2 left off as Kendall is instructed to take the fall for an incident that could take down the company, but he shocks everyone by exposing Logan's coverup of the company's numerous sins. This conflict is set to play out in Succession season 3 as the Roy family is forced to choose sides in this civil war.

Now, the Succession season 3 trailer reveals the first looks at some of the new players who will be dragged into the Roy family's drama this year, including characters played by Adrien Brody, Alexander Skarsgard, and Hope Davis. Judging by the trailer, it appears all three are primed for major roles in the Roy family's upcoming conflict. Watch the new Succession season 3 trailer below:

For starters, Skarsgard plays a successful tech founder and CEO named Lukas Matsson. He shares a scene with Roman in the trailer, asking him when his father is going to die, "with due respect, obviously." After suffering a hemorrhagic stroke in season 1, it seems Logan's health will continue to decline into season 3, as he briefly appears to be in physical distress at one point, but also seems perfectly vigorous when promising to go "full f-ckin' beast" in the war against Kendall.

The Succession season 3 trailer also reveals Brody's new character, Josh Aaronson, a billionaire activist investor who becomes involved in the battle for ownership of Waystar RoyCo and is surprised by the dysfunctionality he finds. Davis plays Sandi Furness, the daughter of Logan’s rival, Sandy (Larry Pine), who is present at the shareholder meeting. Now that these new castings have been revealed, it appears Succession is well on its way to another critically acclaimed season when it debuts next month.
