HBO and HBO Max chief content officer revealed that Succession season 3 will premiere sometime this fall. Succession first premiered in 2018 and followed the exploits of the uber-wealthy Roy family, owners of media conglomerate Waystar Royco. The first season tracked Jeremy Strong's Kendall Roy as he tried to wrestle control of the company away from his father, Logan, as he shows increasing signs of aging and an inability to handle the company's growth. Kendall's takeover attempt is unsuccessful and ultimately leads to him becoming his father's lapdog after Logan protects him from being named as a person of interest in the death of someone at his sister's wedding.

Succession season 2 saw the series take off in exciting new directions, with the critical reception increasing in equal measure. The second season also saw Succession score several highly coveted Emmy's, including Outstanding Drama Series. Airing in October 2019, Succession season 2's finale ended on a major cliffhanger, with Kendall Roy set to take the fall for a Waystar Royco cover-up when he reveals to the world that his father is the one to blame. Since then, viewers have eagerly awaited the return of the series, but pandemic related delays pushed back its production schedule.

Now, The Wrap reports that Casey Bloys has revealed that Succession season 3 will premiere sometime this fall. Bloys did not give an exact date for when the show could return.

Both previous seasons of Succession have premiered in the summer, with the first season debuting in June 2018 and the second premiering in August 2019. With Succession season 3 beginning filming in November 2020, the show should be close to wrapping up production, if it's not already complete. Late fall seems like the most likely premiere date for the highly anticipated season and for many that can't come soon enough.

Succession season 3 has expanded its massive cast by adding some big names ahead of the new season. Adrien Brody, Alexander Skarsgård, and Hope Davis have all been added to the new season. These star-studded additions combined with the drama that is expected will make for an exciting return to television. When Succession season 3 does premiere, it seems like the Roy's may be in the midst of all out war as the various members of the family are forced to choose between Kendall or Logan in the battle for control of Waystar Royco. If the new season is anything like the second, HBO's critical darling may just dominate the 2021 conversation once again on its way to more awards season glory.
