Succession season 3 features Sanaa Lathan as a powerful attorney named Lisa Arthur, and here’s where you might know the actress from. Returning to HBO after a long delay, Succession picks up right where season 2 left off. In the wake of the shocking press conference by Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong), in which Kendall goes off-script and links his father, Logan Roy (Brian Cox) directly to the cruise ship scandal, all of the Roy family are left to react to the fallout. And though Logan and Kendall forge ahead, promising to go on the warpath, the rest of the Roy family and the employees at Waystar RoyCo. appear to carefully calculate which team that they’re on for the time being.

The new season also allows for the addition of prominent new recurring guest stars. Alexander Skarsgård, Hope Davis, and Adrien Brody will all appear in the show’s upcoming third installment. Brody will play billionaire Josh Aaronson. Skarsgård, glimpsed in the trailer in a rather comedic moment, will portray Lukas Mattson in the Succession season 3 cast. While fans will have to wait a little longer to see what those three accomplished performers will bring to the critically-acclaimed series, the premiere episode introduced Lisa to audiences.

With both Logan and Kendall attempting to win the favor of public opinion, and potentially win in a courtroom, they reach out to Lisa. She’s a well-known lawyer, a towering figure in her field, actually, and by the end of the first hour in Succession season 3, Lisa looks to be on board with helping Kendall craft a case that would oust Logan from the leadership of Waystar while still keeping the mega-conglomerate in a relatively healthy position given its myriad of scandals. In her brief appearance as Lisa, Lathan seems right at home in the tense-filled scenes with the dueling factions of the Roy family.

Succession Season 3

Reflecting on what helped her join the world of Succession, Lathan said that preparation for her role in Succession season 3 came from her lead role as Lex in 2004’s Alien vs. Predator. Lathan has also starred in The Best Man, and its 2013 sequel, The Best Man HolidayLove & Basketball, Brown Sugar, the political action-thriller American Assassin, Contagion, and Now You See Me 2. On the small screen, Lathan recently starred in Netflix’s Hit & Run. Additionally, she’s had roles in Nip/Tuck, The Twilight Zone reboot, and The Affair. She played Janelle Wilson in seasons 4 and 5 of the Showtime drama.

Lathan has also lent her vocal talents to voicing Donna in The Family Guy and its spinoff The Cleveland Show. She also voices Catwoman in Harley Quinn. It’s not yet known how many episodes of Succession season 3 Lathan will be a part of. But the HBO hit has always given its recurring guests their moments in the spotlight, often by observing the Roy family’s absurdity.
