ABC's Stumptown cast consists of notable TV actors who've come together to bring the new crime-focused story onto the small screen. Stumptown is based on the comic book series of the same name written by Greg Rucka, a legendary comic book writer who's penned Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, and more - but Stumptown is notably different from the rest of his stories. ABC's new series follows a private investigator named Dex who also suffers from a gambling problem.

Stumptown is set in Portland, Oregon, and the title is a common nickname given to the city's history after residents cleared out the land quickly, leaving behind massive amounts of tree stumps. Actress Cobie Smulders will be in the lead as Dex Parios, a woman struggling with her past as she tries to take care of her brother. After taking on a new gig, Dex soon finds that she might be a fit as a private investigator, although she must also deal with the troubles plaguing her everyday life.

Readers of the Stumptown comics will surely be interested in the TV adaptation. That said, it's not necessary for viewers to be knowledgeable of the comic stories in order to enjoy the ABC series. The sharp-witted drama incorporates a number of genres. There are many laughs due to the predicaments Dex gets herself into, but Stumptown also has a lot of heart. And a lot of that has to do with the Stumptown cast.

Johnson's most notable role was playing Nick Miller on New Girl.

Tantoo Cardinal as Sue Lynn Blackbird - Sue Lynn runs Whispering Winds Casino, a local Tribal casino in the Portland area. The woman is not Dex's biggest fan due to her history with Sue Lynn's son. Despite that, Sue Lynn turns to Dex when her granddaughter, Nina (Blu Hunt), needs help. Cardinal recently starred in Netflix's Hold the Dark.

Michael Ealy as Detective Miles Hoffman - As a member of the Portland police, Miles is at first reluctant to get help from outsiders for ongoing cases. He then realizes Dex's potential as a P.I. and knows she can be of assistance in the future. Ealy has worked on a number of films and TV series, most recently The Following and Being Mary Jane.

Camryn Manheim as Lieutenant Cosgrove - As the Lieutenant of the Portland Police, Cosgrove tries to assist with the missing person case but the local tribe doesn't like to work alongside the police. Manheim is best known from her time on The Practice, Ghost Whisperer, and Person of Interest.
