The Foo Fighters have announced an upcoming horror-comedy film Studio 666, that takes the band's musical process and turns it into a supernatural visual feast. The Foo Fighters are one of the biggest names in rock, and they were recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the first year that they were eligible for nomination. The group is led by former Nirvana member Dave Grohl and has produced several critically-acclaimed albums throughout their career.

The band has announced, via The Wrap, that they plan to release a new horror comedy film starring themselves. Studio 666 follows the Foo Fighters aiming to record their 10th studio album in a mansion in Southern California. However, they encounter a few supernatural forces that interrupt their creative process and put their lives in jeopardy. Grohl, who wrote the original story for Studio 666, says that the movie is "hilarious gore that f--king rocks."

Studio 666 will feature Grohl and his fellow Foo Fighters bandmates, including Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffree. The supporting cast includes Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega, and Jeff Garlin. The film is set to premiere in the U.S. on February 25, with an international debut to be announced later. Studio 666 director BJ McDonnell relates the movie to old school films from the 60s and 70s starring major rock stars in unconventional film settings.

The film is far from Grohl and the Foo Fighters' first time on the big screen. Last year, Grohl released a documentary about himself and his musical process in What Drives UsHowever, rather than being a straightforward documentary, Studio 666 sounds like it will be a more whimsical approach to entertain viewers while also showing them a different side of the Foo Fighters, whose music has been present on the radio for decades.
