Intrigued by the new Foo Fighters Studio 666 horror movie? Here's where you can watch it. Even those who don't know their Motörhead from their Mastodon have likely heard a Foo Fighters track or two, such is the band's immense worldwide renown. Formed by Dave Grohl after Nirvana's untimely end, the Foos have enjoyed hit after hit with "Everlong," "Learn To Fly," "Times Like These," "Rope," and many more.

Dave Grohl is not a one-band man, flitting around from project to project and earning a reputation as the busiest man in rock. Diversifying his interests, Grohl has also dabbled in film and TV. Aside from taking center stage in most Foo Fighters music videos (and directing a good few of them), Grohl has a handful of onscreen credits to his name, including a memorably manic Satan performance in Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny.

The Foo Fighters' latest screen project is Studio 666 - a meta horror comedy starring the band, and featuring the music of fictitious metal act, Dream Widow. Here's everything you need to known about Studio 666, including where to watch the thing.

What Is Studio 666, The Foo Fighters' Horror Movie

Dave Grohl in Studio 666

In late 2019, the Foo Fighters began recording their tenth album, Medicine At Midnight, at an old house in Encino, California. During interviews, Grohl began discussing how the band experienced paranormal activity during these sessions (this 2020 Rolling Stone piece, for instance), but claimed he couldn't legally discuss the strange happenings. The Foo Fighters were actually filming a secret movie alongside their new album - the horror comedy now officially titled Studio 666. Directed by BJ McDonnell from Grohl's own concept, Studio 666 stars the real Foo Fighters, whose recording sessions are haunted by the spirits of Dream Widow - a fictional metal band killed whilst making a record in the same mansion long ago...

Cutting an Everlong story short, Grohl gets possessed by a dark spirit, and what follows is a mixture of B-movie horror, Final Destination-style deaths, and Blumhouse jump-scares. There'll be plenty of cameos along the way too, with Lionel Richie, Slayer's Kerry King, and Steve Vai's hands all dropping by to say hello.

Studio 666 Is Coming To Cinemas In The US & UK

The Foo Fighters' Studio 666 movie is receiving limited theatrical distribution in the the United States and United Kingdom. The release date is set for February 25, 2022, with over 2000 theaters showing Studio 666 domestically. A wider international release beyond those two territories has been described as coming "soon" by the initial press release.

Is Studio 666 Streaming On Netflix, Amazon Or Shudder?

Foo Fighters Studio 666 Dave Grohl

A streaming release for Studio 666 hasn't yet been announced officially. With its schlock-y horror leanings, Studio 666 would find plenty of love on the genre-specific Shudder platform, and if this were any regular horror movie, that's likely where it'd end up after finishing its theatrical run. Given the involvement of the Foo Fighters, however Studio 666 has more chance of being picked up by one of the bigger hitters, such as Amazon, or even Netflix. In times like these, windows between theatrical and streaming premieres are becoming increasingly shorter, and since Studio 666 is effectively an indie movie, you'd expect the Foos to find themselves a streaming deal before 2022 is over, if not early 2023. The fly in the ointment could be Studio 666's planned theatrical release in international territories, which may hold up streaming arrangements.

How To Listen To Dave Grohl's Studio 666 Dream Widow Album

Never one to do things lightly, Dave Grohl has recorded an entire album as "Dream Widow" - the deceased in-movie metal band that haunts the Foo Fighters' recording sessions. One track, "March of the Insane," has already been officially released, and is currently available on the band's official YouTube channel. Dream Widow now has their own Spotify profile, where the track is also streaming. Dave Grohl has confirmed a full album will follow, and has promised to release it alongside the movie on February 25, despite admitting the deadline might kill him... If "March of the Insane" is anything to go by, Dream Widow's Studio 666 album will be an early thrash/black metal effort in the vein of Venom and Mercyful Fate.
