The X-Men have numerous variants of the main characters across the multiverse in Marvel Comics. Kitty Pryde is no exception, with one of her variants from a classic comic book storyline being among the first in the X-Men mythology. Some of her different versions are among the most powerful in the Marvel Universe.

Kitty Pryde is one of X-Men's most iconic heroes and powerful in her own right, with her ability to phase through objects and people, which gives her virtual invulnerability to most forms of attack. Some of her major variants both within Earth-616 and from across the multiverse have even greater power, and in some cases, are truly cosmic.

Star-Lord

Kitty Pryde as Star-Lord in Marvel Comics.

T'Challa isn't the only Marvel hero to become Star-Lord. One of Kitty's most interesting versions in the Earth-616 continuity is that of Star-Lord. She takes over the role when Peter Quill takes over as ruler of the Spartax Empire.

Though her powers remain the same as they usually do, Kitty's confidence and experience mark a new era for both her and the Guardians of the Galaxy. She leads the team on several missions, including helping defend Spartax from Hala, in which her phasing power becomes instrumental.

The Shroud

Kitty Pryde reveals herself as The Shroud in Marvel Comics.

The Shroud is just one of the intriguing identities of Kitty Pryde in the Ultimate Comics universe of Earth-1610. She has all of the powers of the main Marvel Universe Kitty Pryde, perhaps with the exception of her using her powers to make her more dense than more intangible.

This ups her strength and durability significantly. She adopts this identity after the events of the Ultimatum crossover event when she's forced to hide the fact she is a superhero along with the rest of the heroes of her world.

Days Of Futures Past

One of the most powerful, and most significant, variants of Kitty Pryde hails from one of the most important X-Men comic book storylines ever.

In "Days Of Futures Past," an older Kitty is sent back in time from one of Marvel's darkest future timelines to the present day. She has the same phasing powers of Earth-616 Kitty, with the added boost of being able to time travel into the body of her younger self. That is mostly the doing of Rachel Summers, but it distinguishes Kate Pryde from other variants of the character.

Cross Time Caper

Kitty Pryde commands Magik in Excalibur 23 comic.

The Kitty Pryde of Earth-23238 is a crime boss who rules her world with an iron fist. Her primary powers remain the same, but she is far more fascistic and evil than her usually heroic variants, making her much more dangerous.

She also commands a version of Magik, Illyana Rasputin, as her chief lieutenant in this dystopian alternate reality. This Kitty is one of many different variants of her that appeared in the multi-part "Cross Time Caper" that ran through the original Excalibur comic book in 1989 and 1990.

X-Men: The End

Kitty Pryde becomes the President in X-Men The End comics.

In X-Men: The End, Kitty Pryde achieves perhaps her greatest realization of power, at least in practical terms. She becomes the President of the United States in this alternate future which attempts to imagine an ending for the mutant saga by writer Chris Claremont.

Her mutant powers remain the same as her Earth-616 version, but this Kitty acquires enormous political power first as mayor of Chicago and then President. She helps to stabilize human and mutant relations. Her campaign manager is Rachel Summers, her close friend through many incarnations.

Age Of Apocalypse

Age of Apocalypse Kitty Pryde atatcks Star Lord in Secret Wars comic.

The Age Of Apocalypse storyline from the mid-90s gave X-Men fans one of the team's most frightening future realities. It also gave them one of the scariest versions of Kitty Pryde. The AoA variant has her typical phasing powers, but she also has a set of adamantium claws, making her extremely lethal.

In this reality, Kitty was recruited into the same Weapon X program that Wolverine was. Though she is killed in the story, a version of this character appeared in a spin-off of the 2015 Secret Wars event.

X-Men Forever

Kitty Pryde attacks Storm in X-Men Forever comics.

In the alternate reality of X-Men Forever, Kitty Pryde accidentally phases through Wolverine. In doing so, she gains all of his memories and powers. She also ends up with one of Wolverine's adamantium claws embedded in her hand.

As time goes on, she also begins to develop his healing factor and heightened senses, transforming her into a powerful combination of the two characters. With her phasing ability and healing factor, this version of Kitty is virtually unstoppable.

Cat

Exiles Kitty Pryde jumps into action in Marvel Comics.

Cat first appeared in Exiles #96 and established Kitty Pryde as a member of the Hellfire Club under the tutelage of Emma Frost. This is one of the most uniquely powerful variants of Kitty as her phasing power allows her to phase through reality. She has perception through time and space that is akin to cosmic awareness at times.

She's also able to transmit herself through various realities, giving her extraordinary power that could potentially be exploited in the MCU when she finally makes her debut in the franchise. She would go on to join the Exiles team for a period of time.

Soulsword

Kitty Pryde wields the Soul Sword in Marvel Comics.

Magik is one of the most powerful magicians in the Marvel Universe. A big part of that is the Soulsword and the mystical power it conveys to her. The only person in Earth-616 who has been able to wield the sword is Illyana's best friend, Kitty.

On the occasions that Kitty has been entrusted with the sword, she has also gained all of its magical power. She gains the eldritch armor that Magik dons. One wrinkle of the sword is that Kitty has been shown to be vulnerable to it. She can be cut by it even while phasing.

Black Vortex

Kitty Pryde phasing through reality as Black Vortex in Marvel Comics.

When Kitty Pryde merged with the Black Vortex, she became for a brief time one of the most powerful Marvel cosmic beings. She encounters this ancient artifact while part of the Guardians of the Galaxy. While in contact with it, she phases through all time and space, seeing infinite versions of herself all at once.

She is also able to phase the entire planet of Spartax out of the dense amber that the alien Brood had trapped it in. She defeats the Brood, saves the Spartax Empire, and eventually relinquishes her power.
