Magic is beginning to become a factor in the DCEU with the arrival of Shazam and other characters. It could become even more so if some of the most powerful magicians in DC Comics appear in live-action. Some of them are destined to, with major heroes and villains with mystical powers like Zatanna already rumored to join the growing ranks of characters in the DCEU in the near future.

Some of them like John Constantine are already in live-action in the Arrowverse, and could crossover into movies at some point. Others have yet to appear and would make a massive impact in live-action, with characters like The Specter and Doctor Fate possessing reality-altering powers that could have fascinating repercussions for the future of the DCEU.

Constantine

Constantine DC Comics Magic

John Constantine is a powerful magician whose power is mostly grounded in sleight of hand. He is able to cast illusions, hypnotize people, and make them forget. He has a vast knowledge of ancient magic that he doesn't always use, preferring to get by without it.

As seen in some of the best Hellblazer comic book issues, he does possess powerful mystical objects as well. His trenchcoat actually contains demonic power itself and can be used to protect him against other spells and mystical attacks.

Zatanna

Zatanna using her powers in the comics.

Zatanna can use magic to control other people as well as teleport. She can cast major illusions which come into play a lot in her adventures with Justice League Dark. One drawback Zatanna has to deal with is the fact that if she uses too much magical power, she does have to rest and recuperate.

She is coming to the DCEU in a movie to be written by Promising Young Woman writer and director Emerald Fennell, and when she arrives in live-action, she'll bring enormous magical power to bear.

Mordru

Mordru uses his powers in DC Comics.

Mordru is also known as the Lord of Chaos, a supernatural entity with enormous power. His magic gives him a variety of abilities including superhuman strength, speed, and flight, as well as truly awesome powers like firing energy blasts.

Some of his greatest abilities include his invulnerability, making him virtually impossible to stop by anyone other than the most powerful DC superheroes like Superman and Shazam, and the ability to manipulate matter on a molecular level.

Enchantress

Enchantress with glowing eyes smiling in DC comics.

Not to be confused with the Marvel Comics Enchantress, the DC Comics version is equally a powerful magician. She is able to conjure a broad array of spells, allowing her to teleport and even pass through physical substances including solid metal and stone.

Her most powerful attribute might be her ability to link to and channel the magical ability of other magicians. She did this to an enormous scale in Suicide Squad, and in the comics she's done it to an even greater degree, channeling the power of beings like Eclipso.

The Wizard Shazam

Wizard Shazam sits on his throne in DC Comics.

The Wizard Shazam is the source of Billy Batson's power and is one of the most powerful magical beings in the DC Universe. His powers vary in various iterations of continuity, but he is the living amalgamation of several gods and their powers, and he is super strong, fast, and wise beyond measure.

He does have limits though. He's tied to the Rock of Destiny, unable to leave his position or else weaken and allow the dark forces of magic he fights to begin to grow in power. That's why he conferred magical power on Billy Batson, allowing him to fight in his place.

Circe

Circe in DC comics

Circe is a Wonder Woman villain fans love because of the massive threat she represents to Diana. Circe is a god and immortal and has all the abilities of someone like Mordru and even more. She can manipulate matter and reality on a massive scale.

One of her greatest magical advantages is the Mirror of Circe, a magical object that allows the user to transform into another person looking into the mirror. This has allowed Circe to be one of the most stealthy and powerful magical beings in DC Comics.

Eclipso

Eclipso attacks in DC Comics.

Eclipso is one of the most powerful creatures in DC Comics. He is the living manifestation of God's wrath and is responsible for the Flood depicted in the Bible. He can manipulate the elements, a power that allowed him to drown the world in water in the ancient past.

He also wields the Heart of Darkness, a mystical gem, a magical object that allows Eclipso to control other people and their powers. Eclipso featured in some of the best Peacemaker comic books and even has an Easter egg in the new HBOMax series.

Doctor Fate

Doctor Fate using his powers in DC Comics.

Doctor Fate has been numerous different characters in DC Comics, and all of them are extremely powerful. Doctor Fate derives his powers from Nabu, an ancient sorcerer who gifted him the helmet of Nabu. Doctor Fate can travel between dimensions and parallel realities, making him one of the strongest beings in the DC multiverse.

He is invulnerable and as a consequence of his ability to pass through dimensions, immaterial. Thanks to the power of Nabu, whose spirit resides in his helmet, he can also manipulate matter and energy on a cosmic scale.

The Spectre

The Specter broods in the darkness in DC Comics.

There have also been many versions of The Spectre throughout the history of DC Comics, going back to the Golden Age, and all of them are astoundingly strong. The Spectre can manipulate time and space and is one of the few characters who retain all knowledge of the entire multiverse, even after successive reboots like Crisis On Infinite Earths.

He is essentially immortal, invulnerable, and omnipotent, though he does have limitations. He is subject to the Divine Law, an absolute law that keeps his powers in check on a cosmic scale. If he violates it, he is subject to penalties from a greater power, The Presence.

The Phantom Stranger

The Phantom Stranger appears in DC Comics.

The Phantom Stranger has enormous magical power. His greatest strength appears to be his immortality, and he is so powerful he can't even be killed by the most powerful beings in the DC Universe, as The Specter admitted to Day of Vengeance, a comic from 2005.

While his magic may not be as extraordinary as some of the others, its limits are not known. He is to be omniscient, putting him at least on par with The Spectre. His inability to be killed or challenged by such beings suggests he may be the most powerful of them all.
