Stray is currently available to play on PC and PlayStation, but Xbox is another question. In the lead up to the launch, PlayStation users were questioning whether a PS Plus upgrade for Stray would be worth it. On the flip side, Xbox players were wondering if the game would even come to their platform at all.

So far Stray has been a massive hit. Within the first 24-hour period of release, it climbed to over 60,000 concurrent players on Steam, with the true player count likely much higher when added to those on console. The cat adventure game takes place in a dystopian cyberpunk world in which parkour and stealth are used to complete missions; there are also plenty of interactions that players can have to gain important information. Annapurna Interactive, the independent American publisher, hosted a real pop-up cat cafe in New York for Stray so that the successful launch could be celebrated together with fans.

While many who've gotten the chance to play Stray are having fun, Xbox players don't get to experience it because it's not available through the Microsoft store or Game Pass. Initially, there was an assumption that it would launch on Xbox because it was going to be on PC, but that's not always a correct indicator. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that Stray won't eventually come to Xbox in some form or fashion.

Stray Could Come To Xbox At A Later Date

Stray launched as a PlayStation console exclusive but could come to Xbox at a later date.

As of right now, Stray is under a PlayStation exclusive contract, which means Xbox users are out of luck for the time being. Unless players have access to a PS4, PS5, or PC that can run the game, there's no other way to play it. If individuals just want to follow the story, though, and find out specifics such as if the cat in Stray dies, they can turn to YouTube or other streaming platforms to watch full playthroughs. While this information may be disappointing, there's still hope that the game could come to Xbox at some point in the future, just as other exclusives have.

To reiterate, Stray is only available on select PlayStation consoles and on PC through Steam. There is currently no information about if or when it will launch on Xbox, but there's certainly still a chance that it will, especially if it continues to have the kind of success seen so far. The developer, BlueTwelve Studio, could have ambitions to expand Stray's horizons and get the game to even more players, but first the exclusivity time will have to run course.
