Here's every alternate ending for The Strangers: Prey At Night where the titular killers survive. The first Strangers arrived in 2008 and was a terrifying home invasion story where a couple (played by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) are menaced by a trio of masked killers. The movie's thick atmosphere of dread combined with its chilling ending saw it become a horror favorite. While there soon talk of a sequel that would move the action to an almost abandoned trailer park, it soon fizzled out.

It was unexpectedly revived years later as The Strangers: Prey At Night, with Johannes Roberts (Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City) helming. This 2018 sequel had no real links to the original beyond its title slasher characters, and instead of the more grounded feel of the original, Prey At Night felt more like a 1980s slasher. It also took some clear John Carpenter influence from the likes of Christine. The movie was a success, though some viewers were disappointed with its change in tone.

One surprising element about The Strangers: Prey At Night is that it appears to definitively kill off its slasher trio. Pinup (Lea Enslin), Dollface (Emma Bellomy), and Man in the Mask (Damian Maffei) all appear pretty dead by the time the end credits roll, though heroine Kinsey is startled at the end by a knock at the door - the Strangers signature move. Shortly after the sequel's release a still image circulated of Man in the Mask standing behind an oblivious doctor, and in a Bloody Disgusting interview with Damian Maffei - the actor who played the killer - he revealed several alternate endings were shot.

Strangers Prey At Night Unused Ending

The only alternate ending available to view online for The Strangers: Prey At Night continues from the current one. After the knock is heard, the door opens by itself to reveal an empty hallway. The lights start to go out one by one and the sound of an ax being dragged is heard, and then the lights go out completely as Kinsey screams. Maffei revealed the original ending had both him and Dollface drive off together, but this changed when Dollface was the first of the trio to die.

Another two Strangers: Prey At Night endings had Man in the Mask turned up at the hospital. In one scene, a doctor comes in to see Kinsey when the killer appears behind him. He buries an ax into the doctor's back and the ending would freeze-frame on the killer's eyes. Another version had the slasher break through a nurse's station. In the end, it was best for the sequel to end on a more ambiguous note. It seems very doubtful any of the trio survived, but just like with Kinsey, the fear of their return will live on.
