Another Netflix star had the opportunity to play Steve Harrington in the hit show Stranger Things. Originally an ignorant and stubborn teenager, after the disappearance of his girlfriend's friend, Steve (Joe Keery) has a major change of heart that sees him become a core character in Stranger Things. Now being an essential player in the fight against the Upside Down, Steve has to try to save the world, while also trying to find steady work.In an interview with Access Hollywood, Chase Stokes, star of Netflix's Outer Banks, explained that he had the chance to play Keery's role.
Steve, who was originally going to be killed in Stranger Things season 1, is a serious star in the show, so Stokes certainly regrets the loss. Still, the Duffer brothers were willing to give him the opportunity to appear in the show as a different character, Reed. Check out Stokes' quote below:
“So I actually read for Steve Harrington, and I forgot all the lines and absolutely f’d up the audition, and I drove eight hours from Atlanta back to Orlando regretting every moment of my life on that, and the Duffer brothers decided to write me back into the show. It was a lot of ‘I wish I would have said like at least two words’, but Joe Keery is an absolute legend, and so damn good as Steve Harrington, and I’m super proud of him."
Stranger Things Season 5 Has A Lot To Wrap Up
While Stranger Things has become a massive cultural phenomenon by using nostalgia, science fiction, and careful characterization to create an audience, even Stranger Things has to come to an end. Season 5 will be the last Stranger Things season and will be used to wrap up the plots of the Hellfire Club.
As the most streamed 2022 show, Stranger Things has serious momentum heading into season 5. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Hopper (David Harbour), Winona Ryder (Joyce), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Max (Sadie Sink), Maya Hawke (Robin), and Natalia Dyer (Nancy) will all be returning to see the show through to its final moments. The season will also feature a major time jump to help the show age with the younger cast members and to explore the influence of the Upside Down on Hawkins after the season 4 finale.
The story is expected to be the biggest in Stranger Things history and will lead to potential Stranger Things spin-offs. While there has been no word on what the spin-offs will look like, the Duffer brothers have hinted that it will be completely separate from the Hawkins Hellfire Club. Everything about Stranger Things season 5 indicates that the show will be ending in a moment of glory for its characters, and Stranger Things promises nothing less.
