Sadie Sink is not looking forward to leaving Stranger Things. The young actor had her breakthrough role when she debuted as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things season 2. For the past six years, Sink and many of the Stranger Things cast members – such as Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp – have matured with the show itself. That is set to come to an end with Stranger Things season 5, which marks the final season of the series and will undoubtedly be an emotional experience for the cast who has grown up together on the show.During a recent appearance on the Today show, Sink talked about growing up on the set of Stranger Things and discussed what it will be like leaving the show behind. The Max actor says that season 5 will be everything from "emotional" and "awful," to "horrible," "scary," and "sad." Despite that, she thinks it's "exciting" to be able to move on to the next chapter. Read what she said below:

We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in Season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. It’s going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible. These kids, this entire cast and crew, it’s family. People say that all the time, but I genuinely mean it. And to think that we have to say goodbye to that security and knowing that we’re going to be seeing each other for another season? It’s scary and sad, but I think it’s exciting to kind of move on to the next chapter, I guess.

Though Sink still doesn't know what Stranger Things has in store, she, along with many fans, have a good sense of what's to come. The Duffer brothers revealed that their pitch for Stranger Things season 5 moved Netflix executives to tears. This is part of the reason why Sink and viewers have already begun bracing themselves for an incredibly emotional final season. It will be at least 8 episodes long, and after the super-sized season 5, it seems likely Stranger Things' final installments could be quite lengthy.

Stranger Things season 4 has already set the stage for a heart-wrenching last season with the death of the fan-favorite Eddie Munson (played by Joseph Quinn). Also, Vecna nearly took Max's life, who ended season 4 in a coma and could still be under Vecna's control. With the Upside Down infiltrating Hawkins and Vecna's return impending, Stranger Things season 5 is likely to kill off a few more beloved characters. With the end of the show on the horizon, just about any member of its huge ensemble cast will be fair game.

With Stranger Things coming to an end, Sink will soon have to move on to the next chapter of her career. She has also appeared in Netflix's Fear Street trilogy, and Fear Street 4 has just received a promising update by hiring a director. Sink also stars in The Whale as the estranged teenage daughter of Brendan Fraser's character, which many have called the best performance of the young actor's career. Even after Stranger Things ends, Sink's future appears to be bright.
