Netflix confirms Stranger Things season 4 will release in summer 2022. First debuting in 2016, the coming-of-age sci-fi adventure series has become one of Netflix's biggest original shows. Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Winona Ryder as Joyce, David Harbour as Hopper, and much more. Set primarily in 1980s Indiana, Stranger Things season 3 brought the main characters back together but ended with them all splitting up. This set up the show to go in a very different direction in season 4, and it's left fans desperate to know when the series will return.

Fans have long known that Stranger Things season 4 would happen, but it's been more than two years since the last season aired on Netflix. The fourth season suffered similar production delays as most major Hollywood productions due to COVID-19, which was only increased thanks to the changing landscape of Stranger Things. Instead of just taking place in one central location, Stranger Things season 4's trailers have confirmed that California, Russia, and more will be important locations in the next chapter of Eleven's story.

Netflix has now confirmed that Stranger Things season 4 will release summer 2022. No official release date has been announced, but the summer 2022 release window gives fans a rough understanding of when the show will return. Stranger Things season 4 is scheduled to be nine episodes long, and Netflix made the release window known as they shared the episode titles for every season 4 episode.

Even though Stranger Things season 4 is still several months away, Netflix has already given fans plenty of teases about what it will hold. It will be set around the kids' spring breaks and see Eleven and Mike reunite after an unspecified amount of time. There will also be the presence of a haunted house, an explanation for Hopper's return and survival, and will add to the mystery of the Upside Down, Hawkins Lab, and more. Plus, Stranger Things always has the chance to surprise its viewers, such as with the episode titles teasing Billy's return.

Since Netflix didn't officially announce a specific release date for Stranger Things season 4, that announcement will have to come at a later date. It won't be too surprising if the streaming service keeps the hit show in the July 4th holiday release window. This proved to be a great release spot for Stranger Things season 3, especially since the season's events were connected to the holiday. Stranger Things season 4 might be set a few months earlier in the calendar with its spring break setting, but a prime summer release would once again position the series to be one of the biggest summer shows of the year.
