New images from Stranger Things season 4 reveal two of the new characters joining the paranormal drama. On the list of 2022's most anticipated returning shows, it just might be that Stranger Things is the one at the very top. Fans have been waiting for another installment of Netflix's hit series since July 2019, when season 3 arrived and dropped a massive cliffhanger on everyone's laps. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic delayed production considerably, and Stranger Things season 4 has taken much longer than expected to arrive. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, though: The first half of Stranger Things season 4 will premiere on May 27, while the second will debut in July.

There will have been a bit of a time jump when Stranger Things picks up. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Will (Noah Schnapp) have left Hawkins behind and set up a new life with Joyce (Winona Ryder) in California. However, the Upside Down is far from finished with the core group, and season 4's mystery looks to involve an unsettling location known as the Creel House. Plus, Hopper (David Harbour) is still being kept in a Russian prison camp. On top of all that, Stranger Things season 4 will introduce a slew of new characters, most of whom are still being kept under wraps.

Netflix has unveiled a new batch of images for Stranger Things, and they feature two of season 4's newcomers. The first is Eddie (Joseph Quinn), a member of Hawkins High's D&D club. He's shown leading a game in one picture and aligning with those like Steve (Joe Keery) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) in another. The second is Argyle (Eduardo Franco), who appears to have become fast friends with Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and stands alongside him, Will, and Eleven in a particularly exciting image. Check out the new pictures down below.

Eddie and Argyle are among the three new characters who have been made series regulars for Stranger Things season 4; Jamie Campbell Bower also joins the main cast as Peter Ballard, though he wasn't included in the new pictures. It still isn't quite clear how these newcomers will fit in alongside the core group, but it looks like they could prove to be vital allies in the latest battle against the Upside Down. With Eddie, Stranger Things can return to its roots with some classic D&D fun; after all, this is a series that first began with its characters playing the beloved game.

Season 4 is the beginning of the end for Stranger Things, as season 5 is guaranteed to be its last. Various cast members have all promised that season 4 is the darkest and scariest one yet, so audiences might need to brace themselves. With the new images, Netflix seems to really be upping its promotional efforts for Stranger Things season 4, so perhaps fans will be treated to a proper trailer soon. Only time will tell.
